Default A lightened bonneville... quarter mile time??

Sorry if i posted in wrong topic...

In a way to preserve my bonneville from wear due to going at the track, im (with a friend) thinking about buying a Serie 2 L67 and rebuild it ourself (what ever it will need, time, money) and put it in a '96 '99 bonneville body.

I have 2 question:
- Is it possible to swap a L67 in a '96-'99 SE ?
or is it easier in the SSEi body? ...wiring..engine mount...

we want it the easiest .

-And, we plan to lightened it the more we can, removing every unnecessary stuff, this mean the car will not see road, only track, but will still look good from outside.

How much weight do you think we can get out, and how much time we can gain on the quarter mile?

We plan to go cam, rocker, headers/downpipe , 3.25pulley,and supporting mods.

if we could get to 1400kg im assuming it can run pretty fast.

..yes i tought about swap the engine in a lighter body , such as a cavalier, but we dont want to mess with wiring.

What do you guys think?

How about a L67 fiero swap? That will put you around 2800 lbs. and their is a company that makes all the parts you need for the swap. You will never get a Bonne at 2800 lbs. no matter what you do.

I just don't really see a point to do something like this and only do minor mods. You are going to be luckey to get 500 lbs. out of a bonne and that will only give you a half sec. in the 1/4 mile.

edit: i dont want to break the world record, i want something fast, and easy to swap.
Fast for me is 13.5 and less.

So why don't you just the time and money that you put into that car and put it into yours? It wouldn't take alot to get that 13.5 out of your car.

I will install rocker, ported manifold and PCM this year and probably a performance rebuild for my tranny (when she will die)

that should push me in 13'* , and thats enought for me, but i really love to go at the track, i dont want to beat my SSEi all weekend at the track. This way i will go at the track and i will not wonder what i will do if something break.
Thats my only car, right now my engine bay is empty, ill get a used engine in it, 2 weeks without a car isnt funny, i dont want to feel that again (had problem with a spun bearing..)

When i go on track with my bonneville, i only do 2 pass, but i would love to do more. This is why i would buy another one, this isnt a 2 weeks project, it will take time to get all the necessary money to do it.

And may be 1.9 rockers will be enought. Like that it will be cheaper.

BadSSEi weigh in at 2800-3000 IIRC.....the nubmer was said many times at the Meet but i now cant remember the exact weight got the life of me

you would want a 97-99 for ease of the swap and the modability......it can be done....go for it

A 92-99 H-body is probably not much lighter then a 00+, by the time you add an L67. Not a 86-91 H-body would be lighter and probably cheaper.
