I don't think he'* planning on roadside inspections, unless they're popular in the great state of Cali-for-ni-a. I think something switchable for a yearly inspection is all he needs.

Wouldn't it just be easier to move to a different state?

And the measurement of the blower is.. (drumroll please)

5.75" from bottom of casing to the top.. Don't look sad yet Andrew, there'* more.

The nub on the top is about 1/4" higher where the lowest poing of the rail would have a holding point to the charger. I cut part of that off on my rail since the Gen V doesn't have the holding point in this location.

Then..Let'* think about total injector height and where the ports are in comparison to the motor heightwise. Aren't the ports in the LIM lower than the base of the L36 intake? I'd like to believe the ports in the heads are higher than the LIM.

Roadside inspections do exist here, but the state has been surprisingly forthcoming about the fact that they purposely profile youngsters driving fart-can equipped Asian cars that "look modified." As a middle-aged, balding, stock-looking-Buick driver, I'm expecting to avoid that trap

(I do have to be sure I can always pass emissions, however; the state is experimenting with some sort of infra-red tailpipe emissions detector / high speed camera gadgets on freeway onramps)

Visual / sniffer smog inspections are every two years, and I just passed mine...so I've got some time before the next one.

I don't know that the L36 LIM ports are significantly lower than the UIM base, nor that the L67 head ports would be significantly higher than the L36 LIM ports...I also wonder about the way the fuel rails "cross over." On the L36, they kind of "nestle down" inside some ridges in the top of the UIM...I'm going to have to study some photos and see if it looks reasonably doable.

In the meantime, I'm wondering what measurements could I take on my L36, so we can settle this L67 fuel rail clearance question?

Ok, I've got an experiement I could do to probably find out..

My buddy'* Regal GS is sitting with the F-body stuff on there.. The UIM is not bolted down yet though.
If the RWD LIM is the same height as the FWD, I can just take my spare FWD UIM, put it on top, and test his old L67 fuel rail to see if it will clear.
(If the RWD LIM is shorter, I can still do it by making up the difference)

At the latest, I can do this by Saturday. I can probably snap a pic too.

Sound good?

Six extra injector ports sounds like six places for nitrous squirters

I was able to give it a shot today:

The F-body LIM is the same height as my LIM.
It also had dowl pins sticking out of the surface that were approx the same height/thickness as the FWD L36 UIM gasket.
It'* hitting the top of the manifold and it still needs to go down about 3/4" or so..

You can bend the two lines that hit with a tubing bender and make it work though..
I guess you would just need 2 L67 fuel rails.

One other issue is if your L36 lines will bend into place.

Edit for horrible spelling..
