MAF screen removed!
hey guys last night removed the MAF screen off the TB because mine had a few dents and i was reading that it might give me 5hp so i removed it will this cause me any problems down the line?

I think so.
You have a stock intake setup, right? That screen is the only way your MAF sensor knows how much air you're pulling in.
Let'* put it this way......my 93 SSEi runs better WITH the MAF screen, even with a custom intake. You've got to be way worse with the stock intake box and accordian plenum tube.
There'* no way it'* 5hp. I've done the flow calculations on the surface area, and there'* no way you can outflow your TB with the screen installed.

If you read techinfo, it clearly states that the only time you should try it is with a smooth-walled intake pipe. Either CAI or FWI. And even then, some cars respond well, and others don't. Even with a FWI on an L36, the 3.5" tubing may not produce enough laminar flow for your MAF sensor to read properly.
I run MAF screens in both my cars because I get more consistent MAF readings and better running cars with it in.

sorry i forgot to say i have a CAI on the car and the screen was dented to **** the factory airbox had TONS of birdseeds in it so car must have tried sucking seeds up and they dented the screen the car feels great it idles fine no CEL and i think it gave the car a little more ummph dont know tho and the only reason i said 5hp is because thats what the tech info page said i have no idea in truth

well today the car idles funny not a big deal but when idleing away you feel a little shake now and then that was not there before maybe i will have to put it back in hmm
