muffler ?
I have a 94 stock bonne se with 2.25 single exhaust that I want to turn in to a dual. i was debating between a flowmaster 80 series, magna flow or dynomax single inlet dual outlet mufflers. which muffler would be the best for the sound not the performance, flowmaster, dynomax, or magnaflow. If i get a magna flow ill it sound like this http://www.users.qwest.net/~jacquesgordon/mixdown.mp3 . if it a sounds like this then i dont like that

Yea, i kinda have the same question, i know that i'm going to go with a Flowmaster, but now my only question is weather to go with the 80 series, or the 40 series, i've heard a lot of good things about the 40 series, but i haven't heard much about the 80 series, so i'm not sure which would sound better on my car.

Try ebay. You can get a 2.5" high flow cat for about $60'ish including shipping. Might even find one cheaper if you do custom searches (not just "high flow cat"). I was going to get a 3" there, but decided on a 2.5" due to the loss of low end torque with the 3" cat.

Allmachtige:
What kind of V-6'* did you hear them on, and what did they sound like?
I've got my appointment on Friday at Walt'* and I'm putting on the MagnaFlow/ANSA tips...
I've heard MagnaFlows on some Toyota 4-Runners, both the 3.0and 3.4 engines.
They didn't sound too bad. See for yourself -
site url:
http://www.pnw4runners.net/exhaust/exhaust.htm
3.0:
http://64.127.247.125/exhaust/ex1.mpg
Sounds kinda small...
3.4:
http://64.127.247.125/exhaust/ts1.mpg
This sound OK to me, and it'* the short one, too.
another 3.4:
http://www.pnw4runners.net/exhaust/tom_18_magnaflow.avi
This is the size I'll be using, 18" / 24" overall length.
What I like here is it'* sound is lower without being 'farty' or 'bratty'.
Truth be told, if I can get my SSE to have even a hint of the sound of the V-6 Jimmy Diesels that power the big Tunnel Bus I drive, I'll be pleased as hell !
It'* one of things I like best about that Coach --- THE SOUND.
I think it might sound OK with the cat still on the car and the resonator tips, plus, this is a 3.8 BUICK engine.

With my Magnaflow I am ok with the way it sounds when it is reved up to the higher rpm'*. What really has my attention though is the idle. I have been complemented many times by strangers on how nice it sounds at idle. The low rumble is something you can't help to notice. I can assure you that the sound clip of it in the inital post doesn't do it justice.

One thing I don't want to hear is the 'crack & pop' on the rev-down.
The Toyota link above with the larger muffler seems to largely avoid this, and that would be good.

Mine had the "crack & pop" well before I had the new exhaust. It was doing it back when the stock exhaust was on. It only does it if I let off the gas completely and not ease it down somewhat. I am thinking it is more valvetrian wear than exhaust system, or at least mine is.
