Default Further EXHAUST tuning ---

After a week of the MAGNAFLOW / ANSA exhaust, I'm about 85% satisfied.
The deeper sound I was thinking of is really only present at idle and revdown.
What I think I'm hearing is actually a lack of backpressure.
Kind of like honking on a trombone instead of controlling the sound with your lips, i.e., the release of the air pressure into the instrument for a particular note.
Which brings me to my idea:

The '92 SSE doesn't have a 'resonator' ahead of the muffler. I think this would help eliminate some of the 'honk'...
My idea, if feasible, is to have a 2.5" in/out glasspack muffler installed where the resonator would be, to give a bit more backpressure without sacrificing much flow, thus tuning the exhaust and perhaps even getting a bit deeper tone from the system.

Lemme have it, Gentlemen.
Is this something that would work, or not?
Any ideas or specifics you can come up with, I'm all ears...so to speak.

Uh, maybe I should rephrase the question?

Will a glasspack muffler effectively approximate the function of a factory resonator?

Should I be setting off car alarms with a "stock" SSEI exhaust? No there aren't any leaks either and this happens ALL the time so its not just one ultra sensative alarm.

You're right on with that glasspack idea. It will deepen the sound, but it will also quite it down a little. It will give you some of your BP back, too.

What if you added resonator exhaust tips instead? That should give you enough back pressure plus more of a growl instead of a chatter.

I did add resonator exhaust tips - ANSA stainless dual resonator tips. Nice.
There'* still a little bit more noise than I was looking for. Not exactly farty, but, close, hence the meniton of honking on a trombone.
That'* why I posed the question about the glasspack.
I figured the extra bit of muffling, albeit through a non-restrictive glasspack, would be enough to get the desired result.
Not checking in here at the Forum would be a mistake, though.
This is where I got most of the ideas of what to do and then go from there.
Couldn't do it without you guys' ideas and consent!

Now, I'm thinkin' I've got a good reason to get a Cherry Bomb under the SSE...

Whaddaya think?
