Default MSD Coils / Ignition?

I am looking to upgrade my ignition to MSD. What coils do I need to get? Will the ones from www.grandprixstore.com work? And how much will it help to go to a MSD ignition control unit? Is it worth the extra money?

Grand Prix store ones should work. I'm not sure on the other things.

From Jegs or Summit Racing order 3 of part number: MSD-8224

You got the 2 tower packs right? This is what I got and they work great.

So you got just the coils then (8224)? You didn't use the kit for "easier installation" (8870)? I was thinking about going with the MSD control module too but that would tack on another $500 I don't want to spend on that yet.

I really have no idea what the 8870 part is for (coil interface module), I can't find out. Rat was thinking maybe it helps disperse the spark more effectivly? Bah, waste of money unless it does something truely useful. The coils are easy as hell to install anyway. Just disconnect the battery and each coil is held down by 2 simple screws and unplug like a normal looking AC adapter. Go for it!

You should only need one. I have seen other multiple coil cars with only one MSD box.

You only need one engine managment computer for the car so you only need one MSD box.
