Side pipes!
Howdy. Do you think there'* enough room under a 3800 powered car to split off to duals off from the cat (or exhaust manifold) and have side exiting exhausts? I'm not talking about crazy street rod style pipes, but simply having them come out the side. I'm thinking with square or rectangular tips. Is there a quiet muffler small enough to fit underneath? I'm certain you could do it without mufflers, but I prefer quietness for my long trips and commuting.

That'* what i was thinking. I saw a '90s Cutlass with a setup like what I'm describing, but didn't get to see under it. I can see that there'* no tunnel for it to run in though.

It'* not different then running a lowered car. It woudl be sweet, but i would run it in OE location till atleast the middle of the car, then just Y it out the back.

Get under there and take a look. Didn't anybody see my straight shot exhaust install? My pipe runs straight under the gas tank. If there'* room for what I did, I'm sure you can split it off to each side.

I agree with Ben. There are some fairly thin long oval mufflers that you can get. Do some searching online or stop into a decent muffler shop and ask. They have books and books of aftermarket mufflers.
If done right, you can get a good tone and a good look at the same time.
