Intake Heat Shield
I was just wondering what everyones thoughts were on attaching a cone filter directly to the throttlebody. They say the shorter and least amount of bends is better but it is also said that cold air is important. So which way do you all think is better. I currently have it directly on the throttlebody and am going to put a heat shield on it. Otherwise in order to keep the bends gentle i will have to relocate my battery and put it there . Which way should i go with this. Any input or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Your right it is the same concept, but on mine i have it directly clamped to the throttlebody because i have washer fluid tank, battery, and an already altered cruise control unit in my way. Basically i was thinking if i put a heatshield on the crossover pipe and a heat shield partially around the cone maybe it would keep things cool enough because there isn't much room for any kind of ram air tubing either. Just wondered if i would be better off that way or relocating the battery to the trunk and running a rice pipe up to the cone there, thats why i ask which you all think is better, short and straight or length to get it colder. Again thanks for any input or suggestions.

While your idea at first sounds like a good one, it'* simply not practical to put your filter so far from the cold source.
Not only that, but you want a 'long-ram' intake tube to develop velocity and laminar flow. This isn't as important on the supercharged engines, but it is on your L27.

I originally had a tube on it but it sat close to the radiator and it had a pretty good bend in it so a friend suggested putting it directly on the throttlebody. I did notice an improvement until the engine warms up. I just would hate to move my battery if there isn't going to be any improvement over the way it is now. I am not sure what to do, i have been thinking about this for a while now and it is driving me crazy. I want to squeeze as much power out of this L27 as i can.

Forget the IAT, take that filter off and fill it with water. Then when you're shocked at it'* ability to block flow, go buy a better filter.
Aside from the potential quality issues with your filter, the location is bad news. You are probably better off with the stock airbox and a drop-in K&N replacement filter.
