Default Started Modding the Bonne...

Installed the FWI a few weeks back, and got the PCM and 180* T-stat in today. I really like the firmer shifts with the the new PCM, as well as the more agressive throttle response so far. What else would you experienced 3800 guys suggest? I just sold my LS1 SS, so I'm looking to play with the Bonne a little. It'* my daily driver, so I really don't want to get too silly, but it'* hard to stop once it starts... Would high-flow cats make a noticeable differance? How about roller rockers and pushrods? I want to maintain the mid-20s gas mileage I'm getting, but perk it up a bit.

Thanks, I appreciate all the advice and input I receive here.

Hands down, high flow cat and port-match your LIM to the heads. After that, lose the DEX.

I guess I'll head to a bone yard and look for a LIM in the next few weeks. Anything I need to be aware of when picking one out?

What year did the stovepipe diameter shrink? 97, 98? Whatever year that happened, that year or newer.

When port matching, how deep into the LIM should one go? I've done about 1" deep in the past with other automobiles.

Mike, there'* not much to port on the L67. They're pretty close already. And in your case, there isn't much more than an inch of depth anyway.

This topic is about a totally different application and a very much different LIM.

With the upgraded PCM, the high performance street/strip shift kit from intense really compliments the new shift points and increased pressures. And well worth the small price, (about $140 I think). Installs easy, less then 2 hours. Only special tool is a inch pound torque wrench.

As for rockers and such. A very nice mod, just did mine this weekend. Price is high. You shoudl really change springs, retainers, valve locks, and pushrods at the same time. You dont have to but I would suggest it, springs at the very least. Price is about $700. If your good with cars, about 6 hours. Did mine in just under 6 hours. Might want to look at other things before this mod.

Ported manifolds or headers would be wise before rockers. Manifold work will be a VERY frustrating mod. Nothing seems to move, studs break, and nothing seems to fit threw any where.

Putting headers on a V8 pick up is the only easy manifold swap I've ever done. Looking into the LIM, and will definitely keep the trans work in mind. Needed an inch/pound TQ wrench for awhile, so this might be the reason to finally buy one. Thanks for the input, I appreciate the knowledge.

I did my PEMs last weekend, and it was the hardest mod I've done, the rockers were a breeze compaired to the exhaust work. But it needs to be done. Dont matter how much the engine inhales, if it cant exhale it all backs up.

Just one big air pump. Breathing right is what got my SS into the mid 12s with just minor bolt ons.
