Shift improver kits??
There are two different shift improver kits...one is called a shift plus kit, which just simply wires into the car and allows you to change shifting characteristics, and then there is the shift improver kit which involves removing the tranny cover and changing a bunch of springs and such...
do these work good enough or would i just b wasting my time...im currently running with the stock transmission with about 97k miles on it
Here are some links for the items:

you are kinda in a hard spot, because Intense dosnet make a PCM that supports the 96, now if they did, they can program the PCM to firm up the shifts, where does the shift plus wrie in to??

not to sure...it says it installs in minutes and anybody with basic tools can do it, so i figure it either connects into a hard line or possibly into the diagnostic port, not to sure, maybe somebody else does

naw, it would likely plug inline with the tranny electrical connector. didn't look around their site, but seems like they would have trouble with that on a T60, cause the pressure on the T60 is controlled by the engine vacuum.
if you want improved performance, and there'* a full kit (springs, etc) available, i'd go with that. kind of like 'supporting mods' for your transmission. not just increasing line pressure, but changing the accum springs, possibly a new spacer plate, to allow that increased pressure to do extra good...
just my thoughts...

some of the inline shift improvers go off the vacuum modulator.. it has a **** to adjust the ammount of vacuum that the tranny senses and therefore changes the shift based on the theory of vacuum loss at higher RPM.

Do a yellow page search on Suburban Transmissions in Laurel, Maryland. I had a shift improvement valvebody installed at 162,500 miles (original trans.) on my dad'* 1996 Bonneville SC and it shifts like a dream.
