See what I mean? AMSOIL did a dyno test of a bunch of different oils. Of course theirs came up as best (which I ignore) but its interesting to note that Royal Purple was rated 7th place.

I know you weren't asking me, but I figured i'd answer it anyways. Castrol GTX [not synthetic], the car doesn't see more than 50 miles per 30 months, so there is no use in getting mobil one, but when the car sees more road action [specifically when she runs], I will be using mobil one. The tranny fluid will be flushed with some mobil one or B&M trick shift ATF. I see an add in HPP for high performance cars which recommend or void your warranty if you use anything other than Mobil one. So that just goes to prove to you, mobil one is the best.. and they arn't all on commercials and all that crap like quacker suck [i know I spelled it wrong, read it again ].

For the break-in right now I'm using Joe-Schmo 10w-30 but before I used Mobil 1 synthetic. I'm looking more into it as my car gets closer to the point where I'll start using synthetic again but Mobil isn't looking so pretty anymore. I've seen a few lab tests that show Mobil 1 Synthetic as having the most wear of 5-10 oils tested. Also they used to have an aviation brand of synthetic oil that they took off the shelf after a class action lawsuit claimed increased wear. Here'* alittle quote:
"Even though Mobil AV-1 has been off the market for nearly a year, concerns about engine damage attributable the synthetic oil continue to skyrocket. Hundreds of former AV-1 users have submitted damage claims to Mobil for premature cylinder wear, stuck rings, clogged prop hubs and governors, and various other powerplant maladies. Mobil has been quietly reimbursing claimants for repairs, and some owners have taken Mobil to court. "
I dunno, I'm still doing some homework though

Haha yeah I am a bit of a downer for the additive department...I just haven't found anything I've been happy with. None really pass the common sense test. If it is such a great idea and its the next miracle "snakeoil" then why wouldn't some huge company like Mobil just buy them out and add it to their oil from the beginning? They can surely afford it and it would give them an advantage in the market...but they don't and the 'why' makes me not trust it. JMO though
