I just want to bounce an idea off some of you.....

I've got 2 sets of brake pads for my car right now. One for the street & autoslalom, and one for track days.

I've tried performance rotors, slotted, drilled and both.
I find the slotted make a better choice for the race track, but for street and autoslalom it doesn't matter. Also, when I say "race" I mean a road course, not the 1/4 mile or oval.

One problem I have at the track is heat..... so I'm trying to think of a way to get some air flowing over (mainly the front) brakes.

I tried searching for "brake cooling" but it just brings up slotted vs drilled rotors.
Any ideas... has anyone tried anything? There doesn't seem to be much room to play with in there.

Your idea has merit, but do you ever really reach and maintain a speed that would cool your brakes with a duct (NASCAR style)?

I've thought of re-routing my lower scoops now that they're not needed any longer, and send them to the back of the hubs for the brakes, but my warping rotor days are over, so I may just ditch them.

I've seen this a few times on other forums.
They basically run ducting from the front of the car to the back of the rotors. The key is to route the duct as close to the center of the rotor as possible. The further out you go the least effective it will be.

My first thought was to remove the foglights and run ducting from there.

Run SMALLER fogs, and duct behind them. That'* what I was going to do before I added the two custom front scoops.

Ducting to them is your best bet. Maybe pick up some intense tubing, and get that on there...

It'* something i've been looking at if i decide to do some auto-x this year.. I've seen kits for 1st gen stangs go for over $200..

On our cars..the lower and outter most holes of the bumper would be great to duct. Then simply route it in toward the brakes.

Only thing is you'd need to be moving fast enough for it to help.

Will 140kph & 180kph be fast enough?
Those are the typical speeds I reach on the front and back stretch respectively.

I don't want to do tubing from behind the fog lights, I've had enough issues trying to keep the rad & ic cool. I think the lower outter most holes of the front bumper is where I'll start from, if not maybe some scoops mounted under the car.

Anyone got a good pic of a front brake assembly still on the car (minus rim & tire) that I can take a look at?

My thoughts on that is to bring the hosing in and mold to the plastic shielding near the front of the wheel well...but on the inside.

You talkin for your SSEi or SSE?

If its the SSE, I have a pic from my car...but not too sure how much the 89'* differs from the 91 on brake setup.
