1990 3800 LN3 series1 I guess..
ok so I have a 3800 powered car..not a pontiac but a 90' Olds Toronado..but since there really arent any performance sites for Oldsmobiles with 3800'* here I am..
**** Question is down here*****
Ok so the Toro has a 3800 and its a 1990. I am wondering if anyone is framiliar with other 3800 powered gm'* to know if a lot of the mods done with a 1990 era bonne' will work for me.. wondering about intake and exhaust, ignition, chip upgrades, engine swaps...
thanks

Did somebody say turbo?
Oops wrong topic. Sorry.
Ok, welcome to the forum (did you get that subliminal Turbo jab?)
It all works! Start with a 180° thermostat, and go from there. Intake, Exhaust, whatever. (port heads, intakes, manifolds.....)
You're a cousin. Built the same, looks different.

turbo? is it hard to do..sounds like a lot of $$$ heh.. I already have a 77 delta88 pace car replica in the works.. puttin a 425cid and a turbo400 tranny in it like the track cars had....money is in that car more than anything..... I am looking for simple mods for my 3800... I have a somewhat slow connection so any links given would rock to help cut down my surf time..
1. I have plans on chopping off the cat ... that shouldnt matter to much ? I am not worried about meeting any emisson tests. If it won't hurt anything will i notice it on the highway?
2. I am at about 99,000 on this car and got the car from the original owner who in about 1998 just stopped driving the car. it was a summer only ride. I have already replaced the fuel, air filters. PCV filter. and O2 sensor cause I had a SES and a E031.
3. What is the thermostat mod going to acomplish in my 17F weather.. heh.. I mean in the summer is it like a big deal?
4. Coil paks.. when do they go? If I put a better pak,new wires, new plugs in will i notice it?
5. are there chip upgrades for 1990 rea bonne'*, and would it work with my car(90 olds 3800)
6. can I babble any more? Is there an IRC or Java chat room?

You've got LOW miles! Cherry ride!
The thermostat won't hurt you in the winter, and it will help a great deal with engine lifetime and save your seals and gaskets in the summer. You don't have the plastic upper intake the non-supercharged models got in 92-03, so you're lucky there, but do it anyway. I also recommend a tranny cooler for 30 bucks more. Insurance.
Aftermarket ignition will help. Some have the MSD coils and love them. I personally recommend the Taylor 8mm wires and NGK or AC Delco plugs.
No chips for the older Bonnie'*. Sorry. 92 and up only. You have a different type of ECM.
There'* another Bonneville Forum at www.bonnevilleattitude.com and they have a chat room set up. You'll find the link on the top menu bar of their splash page.
We have a Techinfo section at the top of the page that should help alot. You'll find help with intakes in particular up there. Sounds like that is of particular interest to you. Bonneville Attitude also has an extensive Techinfo Forum near the bottom of their forum page.
Any other babbling?
