Maybe someone can clarify things for me.
I talked to my tranny shop recently about putting in a transgo kit. This is the very well respected Redline in Toronto. According to them, it would be about an hour to install and was priced accordingly.
Now, what I have read on the board is that the Transgo is such a complex installation that it is best left for rebuild time.
Further the description from Transgo states:

TransGo # SK 4T60E-Jr Shift improvement / correction kit To be installed during rebuild! Not a performance type kit
Corrects: Light throttle converter shudder. Contains hardened pins and “Tuff” accumulator piston seals to reduce clutch failure due to pin and seal wear, 3rd clutch seal is self expanding. Includes PWM valve, lock-up regulator valve & bushings

Makes it sound like it ain't a shift kit at all. What is it then?

You need to clarify that you have the 60, not the 65. They are confused.

There are also different options within the shiftkit that can take longer or shorter amounts of time by what you choose. The shiftkits in my two cars were done differently, both took over a day with the trans disassembled on the bench.

The difference in shiftkits between the 60 and 65 are remarkable. Not just more complicated on the 60, but also much more to be gained on it. You could do the 65 in your driveway in a couple hours, but it'* basically just changing a spring or two, affecting all shifts equally. The 60 can be 'tuned' for each gear.

The Transgo kit makes 3 major corrections/modifications to the 60'* valve body among other things. The side pan has to come off to get to the valve body and that involves dropping the trans. It would be impossible to do all the work invilved in an hour.

The 65'* shift kits are more oriented torwards the shift accumulators accessible by removing the bottom pan. They usually involve shiming springs or stiffer springs. With a lift and air tools, this could be done in well under an hour.
