i would not replace the sinlge exhaust with another single exhaust.
The single exhaust on the SEs make the car look unbalanced because the bumper does not come very low, and leave much exposed.
I would go with a Y-pipe going into 2 mufflers. In order to try to minimize exhaust shop rapeage try and find a left side exhaust hangar so that they dont have to fabricate something up for you

If you put two mufflers back there, thatll be even more to hang down underneath your bumper and look bad (personal opinion)...I was following a 00+ SE this morning and couldnt help but notice that the stock muffler hangs down a lot and looks really tacky.
If you could use one muffler in a different, more concealable location and then run pipes to each side of the bumper and have dual-tips, I think that would look decent. Because I really dont think the SE'* have enough of a rear bumper to hide 1 muffler, let alone 2.
Ive never seen the exhaust on your car though, so I dont know if its feasible, but a single in/ dual out muffler might be the ticket.

Yeah, but it'* like a glasspac so it fits in that little tunnel in the middle of the car. It'* pretty loud, and drones on the freeway. I'm young and stupid though, so I like it.

Single 2.5" exhaust through the cat. No factory resonator until 1994. Into a crossflow muffler with two outlets. Mounted transversely.
