Hey guys, I just got directed to this site, and I must say it holds alot of great information. Back in July my dad brought back a 1994 SSEi bonneville from a junk yard for $150, included engine and transmission and the wiring harness. The rest is completely trash. Now from what I had heard, the S1 3800 had basically no aftermarket performance aspects compared to the S2, but recently I've been doing some searches and came up with custom size pulleys from ZZP and SeriesOnePerformance.com. Also, S1P has cams listed and also has roller lifters (did 1994 ssei'* come with roller lifters stock?), along with some high-strength pushrods. I'm fairly new to 3800'*, so try not to laugh at me. My real question here is, what is the max hp/tq anyone'* seen out of a s1 */c 3800? I must say, FieroX'* turbo-charged s2 3800 definitely changed my mind about 3800'* when I saw him drag it back in 2004. Talk about one sweet sounding/smelling car. Any replies would be appreciated, and I hope a fiero guy can be accepted around here, I have alot to learn

www.Seriesoneperformance.com is a great site to look around...the site is owned by a member here that has done extensive work on his SSEi....willwren also has done some pretty extensive mods to his 93 SSEi.....it has been said that the aftermarket support is equal to the Series II minus an IC....

the 94 that you have will have the roller rockers

FYI the S1makes the torque down lower on the powerband than the SII although the SII has more on the top end....

Yeah, the biggest hurdle with a Series 1 is the current lack of an available intercooler, although at one point a member here was working on something, not sure what became of it, though.

When you swap a 3800 into a Fiero, do you use the trans too? Or what trans do you use, if not?

Planning on using my 282 getrag 5 speed in my fiero coupled with a spec stage 3 clutch. Need to find a flywheel off of a manual 3800 though, like out of a v6 camaro that came with a N/A 3800. Then get it ground down to specs. All in the name of horsepower

edit: can anyone post the torque curves comparatively between the 94-95 s1 and an s2? I swear all the dyno sheets out there are hiding from me for one reason or another, I just can't find them

GM adds more horsepower, with 1992 models featuring a 170-horsepower at 4800 rpm and 220 pound-feet of torque at 3200 rpm. For the sporty 1992-93 SSEi models, Pontiac provides a supercharged edition that delivers 205 horsepower at 4400 rpm and 260 pound-feet of torque at 2800 rpm. Both V6 engines comes paired with an electronic 4-speed overdrive transmission. For 1993, torque on the base engine rises slightly to 225 pound-feet at 3200 rpm, with an all-new engine arriving in 1995. The new unit is a reengineered 3.8-liter, called the Series II 3800 V6. In its new form it delivers 205 horsepower--35 more than before--and 230 pound-feet of torque, up 5 from the previous version. For '94, the more potent 225-horsepower supercharged edition of the V6 is available for those ordering the SSEi Supercharger Package. It provides 275 pound-feet of torque at 3600 rpm. Both engines remain teamed with an electronic 4-speed automatic transmission. For 1996, power for the optional supercharged engine jumps to 240 horsepower at 5200 rpm and 280 pound-feet of torque at 3200 rpm.

torque curves tell alot more info than peak numbers can, I was looking for dyno sheets, though, I thought my s1 only had 260 ft/lb, guess it has 275, score!

You're right about the curves. I don't seem to be able to find them these days myself, but they're burned into my brain.

The answers to your questions are 93+ had roller rockers, yes there are parts and plenty of people that have great info about it. I'm sure you'll find tons of info very soon.

Willwren has added a ton of power in low cost mods to his car. Things like port matching and pulley changes. SC porting. It all adds up.

I would recomend doing the intake, and I assume that since you are doing a swap and want to convert it to a 5spd that you would beable to port your exhaust manafolds your self and weld them on the outside. Depending one how far you want to go on doing it your self you can port the TB and find out from will about porting and matching the super charger I also believe he replaced the internals of the SC with the newer ones to reduce lose and heat.

As for going to a 5spd you might want to check out http://www.fullthrottlev6.com/forums/ they are mostely v6 camaros and I would think they would have the most experience on the 5spds if not I will look arround for you.
