Default Exaust component questions(updatedX2)....

hey yall. im thinking about putting a high flow cat, muffler, taking my resonators off and putting in strait pipe/split tips back there after getting the FWI/pulley. it just seems like the exaust is holding it back now.Could i be right in thinking this? Ive been reading some posts in this section, it seems like a Magnaflow cat would be the best option. i was wondering if anybody had any recomendations for a muffler? im not planning on doing much else. I also wanted to make sure that putting in a high flow cat will not throw a code. any opinions on this?

A high flow cat shoud not throw a code as long as you keep the rear o2 sensor in place. As far as a muffler i am running a Dynomax Super Turbo with a resonator and i am pleased with the sound, It has a nice deep tone, and not to overpowering in the interior

Agreed on the rear O2, I originally replaced my cat with a 2.5" Magnaflow and had no issues. Later I added headers and inserted a 3" Magnaflow w/o problems.

If you want to understand your biggest exhaust restriction at this point.. lift the hood when the engine is ICE cold. Reach down and feel the gooseneck of your front exhaust manifold. That is your largest restriction at this point.

well, im gonna havta do this quicker than i thought. couple more questions. 1. do i get an "oval" cat, and does it need to have an AIR tube? 2. i only got a short sideways glance at the muffler. is it a center inlet/outlet? or is it offset outlet on one/both ends?
thanks

I would go with the style pictured in the 2nd link. Maybe even get a 3"in/out cat.

go with a 3" down pipe and a 3"in/out cat.
you can keep the rest of the exaust stock or
if you want a deep sound(no rice) go with this muffler

http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...44863_-1_10265

here is a vid of my car, it is the 5th one back, all the cars in the video have L67 engines.

my car has Hooker Aero Chamber mufflers, that is why it has such a deep tone to it.
also have a Moroso Spiral Flow muffler in place of the stock resinator. no rice sound in this car.
my car won best exhaust at the 2006 WCBF. one of the judges said " damm that makes my nipples hard"

the way my exaust is, it splits into two, with a smaller resonator on each. if i just cut those out, will it sound like arse?

my car has one resonator after the cat and two mufflers at the back of the car.
i have heard our cars with no mufflers and it gets loud real quick and the sound
it makes, well its hard to explain its not rice but its not a deep tone either.
will it sound like arse, some say yes, some say no, I say if you find something
you like why would you care what I say. ask 2000SilverBullet how much crap
he gets about his exhaust tone , you just have to talk real fast because his car WILL
spank most of the Bonnevilles on here .

alright. me thinks i will put in the cat and muffla and tips. I will see how that does. I will never get the same sound as my firebird had outta this car, i just dont want it to be annoying.
