Idea for a motor swap
This is just an idea, and I've been wanting to get my '96 back up and running this spring/summer.
Me and a buddy were discussing what I could do with her, and the idea came across his mind. Would, say a '98 STS Seville L37, fit in a '96 SSEi?
That got my mind jogging, because I know that the one twin-charged Bonne is using a 4t-80e mated to his l67, and starting with 300hp, and 295lb/ft wouldn't be a bad deal either, also to have the PAS (performance algorithim shifting) and a 3:71 FDR IIRC.
I know it'* wild, but I have some money coming my way, and a spare Northstar sitting in my garage and an SSEi to put it in.
I just want to know if it'* plausable, and what to expect if I were to go through with it.
Remember, it'* just an idea, maybe a crazy one.

It'* do-able. But you'd have to put major time in on modifying the subframe to accept the larger motor. Wiring, fuel lines, etc., would have to be redone.
You should talk to F14CRAZY and Pontiacjeff. Their projects will probably give them a better understanding of what it will take to accomplish your goal.

It'* not necessarily a goal so to speak. It'* just a "sitting around and bs'ing" kind of idea.
Plus I haven't been able to find anyone that'* done this sort of thing. I have seen it swapped into a few VW'* so I would imagine it would fit considerably easier.

Well, the engine should physically fit, but the mounts are completely different, and the 4T80 trans is also considerably larger, and both would require changes to the subframe.
The reason I pointed out those two is that they're both doing big unconventional swaps in their cars. Pontiacjeff fitted a 4T80 into his Bonnie, and F14CRAZY jammed an L67 into his Reatta with a G6 6spd manual backing it.
