Default Dynoed freshly cammed GTP...it didn't do too bad!!

Today was the MIGPC dyno day. There were a total of 30 cars that did pulls. It was $30 for two pulls. There was an option to get in another 2 pulls at the end for another $30, but only one person used that option... We dynoed the GTP probably about 6th or so, so there was PLENTY of time afterwards until everyone was done. Since the last time it was on the dyno we have put the XP cam in, other than that nothing. My dad accidently closed the happy-**** in the door and broke the **** off it right before we got on the dyno, so we were forced to use the current timing setting of + 6 degrees (21 total degrees) We had done basically no tuning at all to the car since we put the cam in other than turning the mini-afc down because it always runs REALLY rich. The best of the first two pulls was 317whp (only 2 more than it did with the stock cam), but the car was running 1000 02'* (extremely rich) and not enough timing. So we pulled the car off the dyno and agreed that it wasn't too bad for running so rich and not being able to add timing. This was with a 2.6 pulley.

So when ZZP arrived at the dyno my dad bought a new happy **** from them and put it in. We turned the mini-afc down 2% and the timing up 2 more degrees. We went to burger king for lunch and made two WOT sprints from ~50-90 to see what the fuel/timing was. Fuel was still rich and still no KR so we bumped the timing up another 2 degrees and fuel down another 2%. Tested it on the way back with one 50-100 sprint and it got no KR and 02'* were now down to ~950'*, which is a lot better so we left it at that. After everyone else had gone, we pulled the GTP in for another 2 pulls and it did 328whp the first pull and 334.3whp the second pull. 02'* started out on that pull at around 945 and by the end of the pull had crept its way back up to ~980 so it was still WAY rich. However, thats a 20whp gain over last years setup with just installing a cam and doing literally 5 minutes of tuning. The amazing part is the 17whp gain from leaning it out a little and adding 4 degrees of timing. It doesn't have any PCM changes for the cam either.

In general we were happy with the results. The car has a lot more potential as it still isn't even close to being tuned. We were just using a mini-afc 1.0 and a happy ****, so we couldn't really do a lot anyways. The downside of it is the Gen III M90 stock heads XP cam record is 335whp. :( With a little more tuning and a good launch, I definately see 11'* out of this thing at MGM.

Also, there were some MEAN cars there. There was a CSC GP that put down a little over 500whp. There was also an M90 '04 GTP that put down 363 or so IIRC, which I believe is only a couple hp short of the '04 M90 record.

Just thought I would share this with some of you guys. It was a lot of fun!

That'* pretty sweet. It'* amazing what a simple tune can do to a car. With some serious tweaking, I see great things from that car.

Who had the 500 whp GP?

A happy **** allows you to adjust timing with a rotary **** and not have to fiddle with flashing the PCM. Nice pulls Shawn. I'm sure you can get more out of that cam with some proper tuning.

A little tuning does go a long ways!

Chris Hoenle had the 500whp GP.. Its the highest hp CSC car and ZZP had to change a few things because their drive setup kept breaking because it couldn't support the smaller pullies as it was putting too much stress on it.

Apparantly everyone is saying that the dyno was reading really low. The CSC car should've been making more like 530-540 from what they were saying. Everyone was dynoing about 20whp lower then they thought they should've. It seemed about right to me, but thats just my opinion. Here is the clubgp thread on it:

My dad has the chart somewhere. I'll post it as soon as I have access to it.
