Default Exhaust Tones

OK, Heres a question for all you exhaust tone nuts. I have an 01 SSEi. I would love to put a nice rumbley but not loud exhaust system on it. However the guy at the exhaust shop said it would make it sound like a raspy little foreign car if I did that. Any opinions? Anyone succcessfully change their system?

Default Heard them

I heard them,. THe Flowmaster was the one I liked, the others sounded too "small and raspy". I used to own 2 Firebirds..so the very low pitched rumble is my favorite. THe question remains did they just replace the mufflers?(Leave the resonators on?) and what about an 01 model?

You'll get totally different sounds at different rpm'* with any exhaust. Try here too:

You have to decide if you're after sound or performance, or a combination of the two.

flowmaster magnaflow and dynomax all are basically the same for performance. Depending on install and your tips, it might have a couple more HP, but you'll never feel it.

01 SSEi uses a completely different setup then all of these systems. You're running dual exhaust with dual mufflers, This is all single pipe, into a crossflow muffler.

You have many more cat back options however.
