1.9 Rockers - Is it worth the cost ??
It'* the next mod that I'm lusting over.
$778.US -----> ~$1000. Cdn including springs, rods, retainers.
For 25 hp.
I'm kinda hoping I can save a little by purchasing Taylor'*, if he ever goes for the Cam next spring and agrees to selling them to me.
The pulley was a much better hp/$ mod.
It'* really a moot point for now, until my Lsd gets here. I am not going to invest in anything until it shows up. I'm out $800. on my faith that it will come.....been 3 months now.
INTENSE are in the process of moving next week, so I'll let them settle in first before any more purchases.

You don't have to buy them new, and personally I wouldn't buy the roller rockers. The extra money for the rollers does not seem to me like its worth the extra 2hp or so its gonna give you. We have the non-rollers in both the GTP & SSEi. But if you just look at the classifieds on club GP you can find some good deals there sometimes. You can probably easily get the cost down to $4-500 US by getting used parts.
However, high high do you plan on turning that SSEi? If you don't plan on winding it out past 6k then I don't think I would invest in pushrods or springs. With the stock springs in the GTP it didn't get valve float until almost 6200, so we put the springs in because we wind it out that far. The limiter is at 6600 and when my dad accidentally forgot to shift at the track on one run it went a good 6500rpm before he realized he forgot and there was no float that high with his 85lb. springs/OR pushrods. However, our SSEi has had 1.9 rockers with stock springs/pushrods since 70k and its at 125k now and when it shifts at 6k there is no valve float. I think the valve float problem occurs above 6k for most.

I really don't plan on revving it beyond the 6,000. rpm it does now.
But I thought from reading the literature that you need the higher rate springs to handle the higher lift.....or is that just sales literature. :?
Well, your experience with your SSEi should be proof enough.
Without the roller tips, I wouldn't think it is wise to run with OR pushrods because you would need the extra cooling of oil flow due to tip friction that the stock pushrods offer. :?

I've not seen the before and after dynos but remember its not all about the HP numbers, its the torque curve that can really add some driving excitement. Just a little "no duh" reminder

just a small question,..... that "25hp" gain... does that also take into account the mods you've already done... cause that would be a HUGE improvement in cam specs over what you've got right now... added to what you've already got... I would think you'd get more then just "25hp" outta going to 1.9 rockers
I don't know about the */c 3800'* cam... but on my cam ..going from stock 1.55 rockers too 1.9 rockers would be going from
.3875 intake to .475
.39525 exhaust to .4845
that'* a pretty big jump in the cam world
considering the cost/labor/time involved in a cam swap with the H body FWD'*... I think the 1G for those 1.9'*(with all the other goodies) is a good trade off

I got my rockers used off of Rogue and they've worked out great. I got the 105 springs and oil restricted push rods with titanium retainers and I'm good for 6000+ rpm.
If I were to do it over.......I would spring for the 1X cam, a few dollars more but better bang for the buck and horsepower accross the entire rpm range not just the top end?

The 1.90:1 INTENSE™ Full Roller Rocker Arms are a complete bolt-on kit that should increase top end power by at least 20 to 25 wheel horsepower on a supercharged vehicle and 10-15 wheel horsepower on a naturally aspirated vehicle - depending on what other modifications have been performed. If I had more than the 20,000 mi on this engine I would seriously consider it but I would hate tearing down such a fresh engine.
The Stage 1X Cam is the IDEAL aftermarket cam for use with stock heads, lifters, rocker arms, springs, retainers, and pushrods. Aftermarket lifters, pushrods, valvesprings and retainers are not necessary at this level, but there are certain reliability and performance gains to be had by replacing these items during your cam change. We always recommend and/or install CompCams 105# valvesprings with this camshaft. The powerband is strong from 2,600 to 6,600 RPM. With the supportive induction and exhaust mods in place, you should be able to run a 3.0" supercharger pulley with no intercooler when using this cam. Or, you could run a 3.25" supercharger pulley and increase your timing advance.
