Default questions about exhaust stuff

I have been looking around here about exhaust stuff, because awhile ago I got a dual exhaust from the cat back from Pat and have gotten the tips chromed so that has been my delay and now with the winter I am waiting until spring to put it on

here are my plan so far:
-downpipe and cat from ZZP, I planned on getting the 2.5"
-what I am confused about is I see people talking about resonators but there isn't one on the intermediate pipe I have, just straight through from the cat to the Y, I even talked to someone at Morad when I was picking some things up
-since i'm getting a new cat and DP I figured just change out the intermediate pipe with a new 2.5" one, I don't have the exhaust around now to measure the pipe
-I wanna keep stock mufflers to keep the noise down and not spend a whole lot on everything
-I saw some numbers Pat put up on exhaust size and its 1.75" from the Y to the mufflers? something a little bigger seems in order, but I wanna still keep the tips I have

so basically what i'm looking for is nice sound, but nothing too loud or raspy and some performance without killing the low end

if i have to i will consider replacing everything from after the headers to before the tips as long as i don't spend a fortune on parts and labor, if only i could weld

The exhaust tends to be a bit more raspy without a resonator. So adding one will cut back that raspyness. With duel mufflers a series 40 will give a deep tone. Your exhaust should be 2.5" to the y-pipe.

ok I won't worry about the intermediate then, am I right in saying that there is no resonator now?

can I throw my tips that i have into the new magnaflow 40 series? and where can i find a good price on the mufflers and resonator?

The resonator looks like the old cheery bombs. Yes, you can have your tips welded on to your new mufflers. That'* what I had done.

That will depend on where you go and many other factors. I got mine all done for $200 and I provided all my stuff other then the muffler. But I know many of the guys at that shop so I got a lot of extras for free.

I found these mufflers, there not too expensive and look about the same size
MagnaFlow Performance Exhaust

the only thing i'm still worried about is the sound because i don't want to throw a resonator in there

now i think it will be like this:
-new ZZP 2.5" DP w/ Magnaflow cat
-stock 2.5" intermediate
-custom Y split to custom bent to those mufflers above
-stock tips welded to the mufflers

does that seem like it will work, sound good and not be too loud?

This is my exhaust, I have 1.9: rockers, TOG headers, 3" down pipe, 3" free flow cat, resonator, and Flowmaster series 80 muffler

I love how yours sounds, I can't decide on the Magnaflow or the Flowmaster

If I'm not mistaken, the magnaflow tends to be a little deeper then the flowmaster.
