It has been suggested that there are some folks here who have worked on the L27 EFI, I would like to hear from them!

Specifically I'm looking foraftermarket cams, higher ratio rockers, springs, and any other goodies that are available for this "in between" engine.

The Lumina van is not your average build-up (the L27/4T60E was one of the powertrian options for this year), but with some mods it already gives some euro stuff the gears. Mods include:

- Chip change
- Nissan 350Z exhaust/high flow CAT/cleaned up OEM headerettes
- K&N/54mm intake tube/enlarged and countoured OEM throttle body
- Accel coil packs/MSD low ohm HTL'*/NGK Iridiums
- 4T60E shift modulator mods

Heya, first off welcome to the club! Always nice to see someone working on a Series I.

Now for the cool stuff...There'* another thread that goes into greater detail, I'll link you there in a moment. For an outline, there are 3 variations of cams available, 1.72 rockers, and valve springs (not in the thread). I don't have the specs on me but any shop can measure the springs you have and order a set that match. There'* also a 4.3l stroker crank (thought I'd throw that in) but of course its not cheap. If you're looking for anything else let me know.

The rockers are 1.72 because thats the largest that will fit under the stock valve covers, so thats at least convenient. If matched with a good cam you'll have all the lift you need.

Secondly, are you stating that I can acquire springs that are siimilar/same as the OEM'* but higher closed/open values on this side of the continent? That would be great...

I haven't tried the cams, I have a custom that was made before this discovery. And yes, you can find springs here in America by sizing the ones you have now. You can take your springs into any reputable shop and they should be able to size them and order you a different set.

The purchase hasen't gone through because most of them said they are waiting till after christmas.

I'm putting in a fuel pump this weekend (again, sheesh) and if that fixes everything I plan on paying the extra and buying a set of the rockers. According to email correspondance from the company the rockers come with everything necessary to simply 'bolt on.' If you have your heads pulled its smart to have the springs checked. If they're too weak you may consider it necessary to upgrade prior to the rockers.

The 4.3l stroker is from a company in Australia. I'm waiting on an email that will detail the necessary parts and installation troubles.

Are you using the ZEX dry system? If so, anything to be aware of/do different/watch out for on an L27? The higher pressure fuel pump would likely make more fuel available through the OEM ECM (1993 version), right? Especially I would think if I changed the fuel mapping tables??

Also considering a Procharger supercharger and pressurizing the OEM MAF/plenum, we will see...

No I don't currently use the Zex system. I don't even have 2,000miles on my engine and its not worth the danger of a dry system. Its still technically installed, but nothing in the bottle and no power to the NMU. I used several bottles before the rebuild and when it worked right it was impressive. I think my TPS was dancing on a hairline in reguards to sending enough of voltage to the nitrous system to tell it to engage.The Zex system adds fuel by tying into the fuel pressure regulator. Someone who could give you more direction in the specifics of nitrous on an L27 would be Allmachtige .

If you're interested in a supercharger you may be interested in the research that is currently going on. From what we've discovered so far there are enough similarities between the l27 and l67 to at least allow you to bolt the supercharger on. We're still looking at how well the transmission will hold up though. Either way it would probably be easier than trying to fit an aftermarket system.

Yeah, the phanton LSD has been floating around for a little bit. I can only recall one person who'* used it though.
