Maybe it'* just a placebo but I had a K&N in my S10 and the thing ran much better. In my Bonne and my Wrangler I've used the Fram Airhog (same desighn as K&N but about $25 cheaper) and not only have I gotten better throttle response I've also gained a couple MPG.
In my bonne I even compared between a brand new paper filter and my Airhog.

I'm quite sure a K&N flows better than a panel filter. If I go to the track next weekend i'll test both.
