Default Weight reduction.Every 100 pounds =.1 off you 1/4 time?

According to forums ever 100 pounds you take outta your car reduces you 1/4 time by .1

Is there a more comprehensive formula for this?

I mean If you take off 100 pounds off a Metro and 100 pounds off a Vette shouldnt the Metro benefit a lot more?

Yea, I heard that before. That every 500lbs takes off .5.

The metro has a weaker engine then the Vette, so its all in comparison. Weight is just an x-factor, I mean you dont physically add anything to your engine to make it faster.

I figure though 100 pounds wouldnt be much to a Vette and be a big deal to a Metro. Since the Vette has so much power.

My friend is into imports and he gets those import tuner mags and they stripped 230 pounds off a Civic Si. They said it felt faster but unfortunatly they didnt time it before and after.

Anyone know of any articles where they actually tested a car before and after?

Thats a rough gestimate but taking weight off the wheels that don't power the car is more beneficial.

I know it works. My friend has a VW GTI VR-6 or whatever, and goes to the track a lot in the summer. He has gotten better times as he has stripped out his car. The 100= .1 less in the 1/4 is a guestimate, as said above, but is probably fairly accurate.

There'* so many other factors that contribute to this, but all in all, it'* a good rough guess.

Yea general rule of thumb is 100lbs = 0.1s off your 1/4 mile.

Here'* a page full of automotive calculators....
http://www.wallaceracing.com/Calculators.htm

It'* not exact..... but it'* a good guess for most of the stuff.
