Default cold air intake

Anyone looking for a cold air intake, here it is. You have to bid on ebay, which is what I did. This is where I got my cold air intake. I didn't win the bid but I was involved in the bid and the seller made one for me after bidding. Anyway, here is the link http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1870084281. The final product that was shipped to me turned out ok. The piping could have been longer to move the filter further up in the engine compartment. But otherwise, very nice and good sound.

I'm just mentioning this because I figured I'd help someone out that was looking for a new intake. I am not trying to get you to buy this one over the one hector and his crew are making for us. This is just another option.

I have a 2002 SSEI. I see lsted CAI and Fule Injection Packages(FIP). Is a CAI for a NA vehilcle only or is a CAI and a FIP two totally different things?

CAI is Cold Air Induction.. which basically draws air from outside the engine bay.. receiving cooler outside air into the intake. ( FIP ) depending on which company you go with is basically just an oversized fuel injector that sprays more fuel.. providing you get more air in too.

K&N sells a CAI and a FIP, they look identical in the pictures on the web site. I have a 2002, I guess a CAI is all I really need for the horesepower pickup?

Amongst other stuff, but yes.. the CAI will help with hp... also change your T-stat to 180 ( if it isn't already ) along with a tranny cooler.. these 2 are assurance that the engine will not overheat and cause problems... mods should follow then.. no point spending all this money and find that cause of a 8 dollar part t-stat.. you have to rebuilt your engine....

Hey just curious drifter, where did you get your 180 degree thermostat. I have seen alot but I'm not sure if they fit in my car or not. None really specify if they will fit in my 94 ssei or not. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks, I am ordering a CAI now and I will stop and get the T-Stat today. I assume it would be best to have a qulified mechanic install the tranny cooler? I am getting the CAI and t-stat taken care of right away, but it could be a little while until i get the tranny cooler in. I drive a lot of highway miles and want the HP to pull into traffic in NJ, Boston, etc, and to be able to pull away from the crowd after going through a toll booth. AT 41years old I dont race at a stop light too often, but now and then when it happens I just want some more HP under there to put em in there place. This is the type of CAI unit I was looking at:

Currently the only true CAI is the Thrasher unit. CAI stands for cold air intake/induction/in the pipe. Whatever you want to say. Basically the Cold part is what is important E-bay man does not offer this nor does Hector "yet" . The problem for the Bonneville is cost and small number of buyers. I have a system “box” I will be making down the road if hector does not make it. What did E-bay man charge you? Where is the IAT set on the pipe?

The temperature sensor hole on the pipe is as close to the filter as possible, I actually had to remove some of the wire for the IAT out of the wire loom is was wrapped in to get it all the way to the hole. In all, shipping and everything, it cost me 100 bucks. I didn't think this was too bad.

Hector'* intake is on the way to me. I'll be building a heat shield/duct for it when it gets here.
