Default Windshield replacement and HUD

I am needing a new windshield, but apparently the one with the so called HUD (heads up display) panel is several hundred dollars more than a regular stock windshield. Does anyone know how badly the HUD works if it up on a stock vs HUD specific windshield. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Do a search on the Bonneville Forum for this. I recall reading a thread a while back where someone was stating the non-HUD glass will work, but the HUD display will not be quite as clear. I will also look for that thread and post back if I find it. Let me know if you find it before I do.

Billboost has said the standard windshield will work with a HUD, just be a bit fainter and not as clear.

If you don't have glass coverage, go regular. You won't notice the couple hundred dollar difference.

Thanks for the info everyone - sounds like it still works with a non-hud windshield, just not as clear. I think I may have a non-hud now - because I have that slight double image. But it is pitted and cracked and I am broke, so I think I will just get the non-hud. THanks.
