Default Need a "Jet Chip How To?"!

Hey Guys,

Well to make a long story short. I have a Stage 2 Jet Chip on order. I was going to go with a Superchip because they seemed to advertise higher power gains but... For the Superchip you need to provide a code off of your PCM. Apparently it is on a sticker that is attached to the PCM. So I take out the kick panel and glove box trying to find this four letter "Code" and the thing is nowhere to be found. I even had the guy from the shop on the phone with me and he tried to talk me through it, and nothing! No sticker anywhere!

So I decided to go with the Stage 2 Jet Chip because well, they didn't need a code! My question to Will or any of you guys is, how in the hell do you install the thing? From the look I had at the PCM (larger polished 10"x8" steel thing?) it is not very accessable at all. If possible could someone put together a brief how to on installing the Jet Chip? Also do they send instructions with the chip? Thanx

Did I mention how much I hate fuel injection yet?! LOL

Disconnect each of the 3 wire harnesses that connects into the box, then you gotta push into the carpet the plastic piece that latches onto the box. When I remove mine I push that plastic piece into the mat and pull the box towards me and down. Usually it comes flopping down quite easily once I get it free. You just gotta mess with it some...you'll get it

Just remember not to mess with any yellow wires or connectors in there. That'* airbag stuff, and you need to go through an airbag disable procedure in order to get that stuff out of the way. The PCM unit comes out kinda hard sometimes, but the eprom is really easy to access once it'* out. Allmachtige is right on. Be very careful on the Jet piggyback orientation. Look at their diagram when you install one, it'* shitty.

Jet does not make chips for 95 Bonneville'* and 96 Bonneville'*. However 96 Bonneville'* can get a Power Control Module that splices into the TPS and MAF wire that kind of work like a chip and it between 5-15HP gains.

The chips that Jet does make is

92-94 for all Bonneville'*
Stage 1: Minor mods, better performance.
Stage 2: 180 Thermostat, Intake, Exhuast, 91+ octane.

97+ for all Bonneville'*
No stages, computer is adaptive so doesn't require stages.

So how much would a chip cost for a 98+ SLE N/A. Also what are the typical gains from it.

The gains for a 98 SLE w/ a Jet chip depending on the mods will be approx

10-15HP/10-15 lb/ft

It is 50 Stage Smog Legal. The price would be $225 shipped to your door if you do not live in California.

Jet usually recommends intake, exhaust, and 180° stat for better performance with their chips. These are the big 3, anyway, and anyone looking for performance should tackle them right away. Just don't open your exhaust up too much on the NA.
