Default Need Advice on What to Get and/or What is Stupid etc.

Information posted below as seen on page five of Car Domain page: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2075996

Here are some long term (keywords LONG TERM) plans I want(ed) to do with my bonneville.

1) First of all, I've realized that Bonneville'* look a lot better and much cooler if you clear the headlights, especially on a black (or silver) Bonneville, so that is probably going to be my first project.

2) Second, I've always wanted a tint on the windows. My Bonneville is my first car so I am somewhat inexperienced in these situations but most people are skeptical of what I say I want to do because, "It'* just a car, it dies eventually..." Yeah, so whatever. I've read in multiple places that you can get a tint with a good warranty so you can replace it, but I shouldn't have to even worry about that anyways... I just want a really good tint that darkens the windows.

3) My third dream mod is red calipers. Somebody told me that you can't buy calipers for the Bonneville, so I figured I'd have to paint them (unless of course you can buy them). So once again like the window tint, I don't want a caliper paint job that will scrape off or fade (fading is my worst fear because I don't want to drive around with pink calipers).

4) Originally, I wanted to get new tires and rims. I am still debating about what to do in this situation because I've also heard that 20" tires would make your car ride alot more like a truck rather than a car, and I've always liked the way my Bonneville rode, smooth and quiet. I don't know if this is true but even if not, I would like to try to get 18-19" chrome rims so my car is more flashy.

5) The next two mods are very broad because I haven't gotten much into it yet because it is more pricey than the others. The fifth mod, however is that I would like to get some performance mods that meet the following specifications: 0-60 in 5-6 seconds or less: Quarter Mile in 13 seconds or less: Top Speed: 150+. I want to do this doing whatever I can, whether it means replacing the V6 with a V10 :-p if I had the money, haha. Or swapping out superchargers.

6) Like the previous mod, this one is also very broad. This is for the interior. My buddy offered to help me but since I am 18 with no job :( (I want to own my own business and hate workin for mean managers of Dunkin Donuts and McDonalds), it makes it kind of hard to put a lot of money into a car. However I want to add many interior features. First I wanted to add the computer up front and install satellite radio. Second I wanted to add a complete system in the back with as many speakers as necessary keeping in mind that I already have the stock Bose system. Third I wanted to add computers to the back of each seat (or two seperate televisions so people can play a gaming system of some type). Fourth I wanted to add a gaming system of some type but I realized that would get old fast, such as Playstation to Playstation 2 to Playstation 360, so I might find a way to integrate a high performance computer somewhere (yeah right).

6) Sixth, I wanted to swap out the spoiler for a new one. I have no idea how this would work because somebody told me that there would be holes left in the trunk from whats holding in the current spoiler. And yes, sorry to all you Bonneville lovers :P, I would probably add a wing if I could somehow fill the holes (if there are holes).

7) I originally wanted to put neon on my car, but I don't know if that is going to happen. I mean, I heard blue and red were illegal in Massachusetts but I wanted to put purple and then somebody told me neon was illegal in Massachusetts period. However if I got neon, it would most likely be blue. It would be in the trunk (blue and white neon dancing to the beat), under the front driver and passenger seats (blue), under the seats (blue), under the grill (blue), two license plate neons (white) and of course, under the car (blue).

Lastly, I thought about switching out headlights but I get way too confused way too easy . I wanted to get angel eye headlights, highbeams and foglights but you know what, I don't even know what they make or if it would fit a Bonneville, because quite frankly, NOTHING FITS A BONNEVILLE! Haha just kidding but you get the point, and no, I will not black out any lights because I hate the way it looks.

Let me know what you guys think and feel free to criticize me as much as you want. Criticism is good and since I don't know much, anything you have to offer would be great, thanks alot for reading through all of it too, I probably should have put it in a book and sold it =D.

Please feel free to criticize me, but in a constructive way. I know for sure that some of you are going to be very unhappy with some of those I told you about but I'm really posting here to learn about what will fit, what won't fit, what won't look good, if there will be holes in the trunk if I take the spoiler off, that kinda stuff, etc... So please be kind and let me know anything you want to.

1. its super easy
2. pay a shop to do it if you dont feel comfortable
3. duplicolor makes a caliper painting kit
4. www.Intense-racing.com
5. anything larger that 18 will decrease performance and will kill the ride quality, and if your looking for performance then dont do bigger wheels
6.the stock spoiler is fine, and anything else will not look very good on the car
7.there are tons of options for the audio
8 Here is what i did with neon

Ahhh I spoke to you before, I remember but I forget heh, you're the one who showed me the neon that you did. Still though, I'm very stubborn and I like what I THINK will look good heh, so I dunno bout the spoiler but thanks for advice , still wondering if there would be holes in the trunk but thanks for the help on the wheels. Do you think 18" would make performance worse than 17" or better than 17"?

Each increase of rim/tire will decrease ride quality. And you'll start getting worried about someone stealing your rims.

Caliper painting is easy, and inexpensive...great bang for the buck.

Wing..while most here would verbally say don't do it.. I'll state that there would be no gain for you from doing it other than a cosmetic, police attention grabber. Downforce on the back end of a Bonneville will not yield any performance results. Go for it if you need to be pulled over more often. Cops love wings..it'* like a sign that says.."Please pull me over". And yes..there would be holes.

W/O spending a ton of money 13'* are not very easily accomplished. Do you have a supercharged car? You need to add the year and model of your car to your signature for us to remember it.

there WLL be holes in the trunk if you take the spoiler off

and with wheels you have to consider the weight of the stock wheels and the weight of the aftermarket wheels that you are going to add....that is factored into the unsprung weight, also a heavy wheel wheel will increase the rolling mass and make the car slower and make the car stop worse

well usually bigger sizes will decrease ride quality a bit because of there being less room for rubber and more wheel...17s are not bad, but like 1993 SLE wrote, not the greatest idea to go over 18...keep it down like 16 or 17 and wider is better, obviously....

1) ok sounds good
2) get it done professionally, it will look better and last longer (but make sure its a reputable place)
3)No biggie as '93 said, Duplicolor makes a kit...
4)like i said before...yeah. And flashy is good as long as it is not flashy rice.
5)dude, that sounds cool. Don't think a v-10 would fit, the 3800 is a very workable engine, it can be modded to the max....there are some EXTREMELY fast cars on here...

i think '93 said the rest well enough...

Bigger wheels = more rotating mass which means less performance. I wouldn't go more than 17" if you're looking for performance.

I'm not sure how handy you are with a wrench so let me point out our beginning mod techinfo article. It gets you started on base modifications you'll need to keep the car running once it gets faster as well as gives ideas on how to meet those goals you listed.: http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...e=article&k=91

BTW, I just want to stick in my own two cents real quick: Don't go with a different spoiler. I think the one that was put in factory is best for the car. Others have tried bigger wings and generally speaking it makes the bonny look too much like import trash. If you still do it though, more power to you friend. Anyone who wants to take the time to try and make thier car unique gets top marks in my mind.

Alright well I will certainly stick with my 17" then as I am definetly looking for speed and performance along with luxury and a nice ride.

Oh and sorry, there are two 6'*.

Mike, that was ONE person'* suggestion. Much the same as if I told you to buy peanut butter from Jif. That doesn't mean I think Skippy sucks, it just means I prefer Jif.

A suggestion to buy from INTENSE doesn't mean ZZP sucks. Please quit taking it personally.
