Any opinions on if this is a good deal or not?

I'm trying to decide if I want to mod the car little by little, or just save up and get a bunch all at once.

I have no way to scan or tune the car myself.

I was thinking about doing the level 3 package first, then saving up for one more big round of mods, like heads and a cam, or maybe just a cam?

I also want to port the intake and */c. A Gen 5 would be nice.

For some reason, I am really having a hard time coming up with a concrete plan on getting mods done.

I am not familiar with the 3800 at all (but trying to learn), and I have limited tools and knowledge on doing the actual work myself, however I want to do as much of it myself as possible.

The main problem is this is the wife'* daily driver, so I can't have it torn apart for too long at any one time, and I DEFINITELY can't screw anything up on it. I don't really know anyone around here yet that tunes these cars, so I'm also wondering about just making a road trip somewhere to get some of the stuff I can't do all myself done and getting it tuned.

I suggest using that as a guide and doing a little at a time. Might cost a bit more but spread out over a longer time. Start with exhaust and go from there.

I was looking at the package above... and its awesome but i went to look for my vehicle and i couldnt select it.... I have the 98 SSEI and i was wondering if it would be the same set up as the Grand Prix or if they have any sets like this for the 98 Bonnie cause that is awesome!

Same with a few differences. Headers will need a W body dip stick for the trans.

I'm a bit of a drive, sorry. The hardest part will be the headers. The rest is rather easy. I believe I made a write up for each of those in the tech info area under performance.

Many GM'* on this forum were built there (including mine). No one on this site worked in the assembly lines?

Seriously, though, I'm in your shoes right now — four years (on and off) of reading this forum have given me booksmarts, but I lack experience, tools, and a garage. From a purely troubleshooting perspective, changing out one part at a time and having a problem is easier than changing ten parts and having a problem. But those are just my two cents.

Also, from browsing around Intense'* website, they love Bonnevilles almost as much as we do. If the item that you're looking at isn't compatible, ask them. Most of the 3800 items will work if they fit in the engine bay.

Actually.. on that package, there isn't anything that is overly tough for someone with basic tools and skills. The headers would be the hardest part IMO and that'* because you'd need to swap the trans dipstick (10mm bolt) and modifiy your front trans mount for clearance. Other than that.. there are kits included that would clamp to your stock exhaust after the catalytic converter.

SLP'* are very very easy to install on our cars.

Thanks for the input im sre once i get the money and get this thing rolling i will be on a ton for guidance on how i should procede or if i run into a big problem. One reason i really like that stage 3 package is because it comes with a tune which will protect the engine itself. Also i did e-mail a rep with customer service and he was very helpful they do love their Bonnies!
