I can remember reading on here once that the Series 1 L67, depending on the year, comes with two different style LIMs. I've searched and I can't dig it up again. Is this true? Does anyone have pics showing the difference between the two styles? Also, would there be any performance increase using one style instead of the other? I'm interested.

the non walled from 92 and some early 93s are the more desireable ones to have. although it has never been flow benched, the early lim is supposed to be less restrictive.

the walled lim as a lil bit taller but, that gives no advantage from a performance standpoint. just acoustic. it is a lil bit quieter.

:P Seriously, though, great topic. My '93 Park Avenue Ultra built 06/93 has the "walled" LIM. I know it'* factory because the previous owner of the car had it since new and we have done all his work since then in our shop. Should I chime in in the other topic?

thats a late model 93, so it should have the walled lim. my 93 also had the walled lim. but idk the production date.

If you have the walled mani, you SHOULD have the Gen 3 M62. You should ALSO have the roller-pivot rocker arms, as well as a linear egr. If not, here is my explanation:

The manufacture date of 6/93 only means it was built at that time, not sold. So let us suppose that say, the engine underwent something horribly wrong before the delivery of the vehicle...even before it gets to the lot (remember, there are people employed by the dealers to check-in and inspect these cars before going to detailing and inventory check-in), and it was spotted on it "shakedown" run. Dealer warranties out the engine, and has to wait for a crate motor to come in. By that time, they would have gotten the updated longblock.

This has happened to several Crown Vics when I worked for Ford, and a Cougar. It'* a very real possibility it happened to this car as well.

Not true. Only 92 L67'* and early production 93'* have the non-walled. Many of the 93'* (perhaps over half) have the walled and the Gen2 supercharger.

I don't know about prior to purchase, but after purchase this car only came to our shop, and the LIM, SC, rockers and EGR are all original still. It came with a gen2 M62 (which is no more), old-style EGR and the non-roller rockers.
