Just wanted to make sure on this. Searched techinfo and found nothing there. So now I shall bring it to the forum. I'm gonna drill my 180* t-stat today. If I remember correctly it'* two 1/16th" holes that I drill on the opposite sides of each other on the inner edge? I'm more concerned with getting the placement right than the size.

drill it in the flat metal part around the outer edge. If you are not sure, put the rubber oring on it and look where the exposed metal is. A single 1/16th inch hole should be fine.

You do know that drilling it will not help the car run cooler, it will simply make it take longer to warm up.

now I read somewhere....In a post that got moved into a forum that I'm not allowed into for some reasons unspoken...I think that'* the thread....That will keep the temps down in traffic? I'm not too sure. And the warming up part isn't an issue at all. Right now my car will be half way to operating temp after about 3 blocks from leaving my house...which is rather odd to me?

I tested my coolant yesterday and I'm good to -40* F and 228* F freeze point and boiling point. My car get'* really warm in traffic (215* + on really bad days.) And both my fans work.

The holes will give you better flow past the stat. It will take longer to heat up, and should help it to cool quicker once the fans come on...but 1/16 holes are small. You are talking about a small quicker.

Then what size should I drill them at? How many?

It will keep your temps down in traffic IF your rad. and fans can keep up. With that being said it will make your temps in traffic hotter. If you want your car to say cool in traffic gat a manual fan switch or a PCM change.

With a drilled stat you will run about 5* cooler then if it wasn't drilled. So you will run right at or a little above the temp of the stat.
