Default Rice pipe

Has anyone out there tried insulating the tube on their rice pipe with high temp insulation? I noticed that mine gets kinda hot. I know it would detracked from the looks of that nice shiney pipe. I was just wondering if anyones tried it and noticed any differance? My Bonnie is known as the UFO around here.

I insulated mine for a while with heater duct insulation. It seemed a LITTLE more crisp in hot Georgia weather. The IAC had a few degrees lower temp. It is beneficial.
It just depends on your tolerance for looks. It helped some but not a lot.
I'm a HP freak and I took mine off if that helps any. I wonder how much heat the stock rubber hose held ? It'* hard to out engineer GM.

It helps, i wrapped and made a wall to deflect heat, so i can't comment on the benefits of just wrapping it.

I gutted out my air box, lined it with home depot heat reflectant stuff, enlarged the front opening with lexan, and routed the pipe and filter in there.
Not too sure if your air box is close but this is just a thought.

Using a good box around your filter is the key to consistently lower intake temps. I use a homemade plexi box with foam insulation on the outside, and when cruising I see ambient IAT readings. I used to have foam wrap on the pipe, but I took it off for looks. I found that when I installed my box the pipe stayed cool anyways, just as macho mike said. I can cruise for hours and immediately pop the hood and wrap my hands around the aluminum. A good box is the answer!
