Mounting up the HID system
Ok guys I should have my hid kit here today for my fogs, lows and highs. How many ballasts are there total for all 3 units? 3 or 6? I'm trying to figure out where to mount all of this up to.I was thinking of the bolts on the back of the rad area, but sees to be too hot maybe? I got room by the ecu, but wasn't sure if it had 3 or 6 ballasts. Damn I just feel like I'm in for a good days of work getting everything wires and routed clean. I have to keep in mind there not the slim ones either. Well nevermind its 6 ballasts total. Now I'm confused to where to put them on the passengers side. Anybody have a bunch of pics or even a few pics? I will keep a eye on them from my backberry, as I'm looking at a snap on car lift today.

6 Ballasts, and you shouldnt use them in the High Beams and the Fogs if you dont have a fog light override The Constant On and OFF will prematurely kill the Ballasts and the Bulbs
you will also need a relay kit
you will also need a relay kit

The wiring from the light to the ballasts is usually about 12-18" in length. Most come with double sided tape etc. If you use that..make sure you clean the area and it is reasonably warm. Otherwise the double sided tape doesn't like to stick.

Ok, I know how to disable the DRL lights and I already have the 3 wiring harness'* with relays here ready to go. Your saying about shortening the ballasts life? The drl bypass is what your talking about right?

Any flashing of the lights needs to be considered. If they flash for keyless entry..change the settings. Flashing for passing.. just pass w/o flashing.

no when you hit the highs the fogs turn off and when you go back to lows the fogs return very bad for HID'* considering they really need to heat up to work properly the off on is bad

My car has a on and off button for the fogs. Anyways I hooked the hid'* up to the car without the harnesses at first, I figured too many wires to deal with at first, then I tried to fire up the hid'* and nothing. I double checked everything and low and high wouldn't come on, when I put the relay harness'* in walla, nice bright light appeared. lol They are friggen bright! I got the 35w lows and 55w highs, At first I hit the highs and was sad, it was dimmer than the lows, and then slowly but quickly it light up the road and trees like xmas. I can see for over 1/8 of a mile with the highs. Heres the bad bad news! The damn fog light kit they sent me won't work! The bulbs are like 3/4 of a inch too long and hits the lens cover. This kinda ticked me off. Considering I had the shop heated and ran the relay harness already and hooked it up 1/2 way, and then the bulb wouldn't fit, so I had to untape the 2 wires and pull the relay harness and put the stock bulb back in. They have the narrow base like the 880 but its too long. Now is there a 880 and a 830? I know I told them 880. Below are a few pics, 1 with the high beams shining at 1/8 mile and 1 with the low beams shining at 1/8 mile and a picture of the darn bulb differences. 6000k lows 35w and 8000k highs 55w
Thanks

My last question lol. Now when I took the what I thought was the fog lights out of the clear capsule guard, it had a round looking circlip that was a white-clearish color, thats just to hold it in the tube right? You just throw that away? I didn't think it was anything to do with anything, I still have it, just saw it on ddmtuning'* website. www.ddmtuning.com under bulb spec chart. Anybody know what kinda buld I need? Autozone says 880. Thats what I told them.
This is copy and pastes from my order invoice.
Apexcone Raptor HID Kit (35w or 55w)
Options:
Wattage : 35W
Bulb Type : 9006
Bulb Color : 6000K $29.95
(Not Taxable) 1 $29.95
Apexcone Raptor HID Kit (35w or 55w)
Options:
Wattage : 35W
Bulb Type : 880
Bulb Color : 6000K $29.95
(Not Taxable) 1 $29.95
Apexcone Raptor HID Kit (35w or 55w)
Options:
Wattage : 55W (+$10.00)
Bulb Type : 9005
Bulb Color : 8000K $39.95

So I don't know what happened or just if I can't run 880'* or hid'* in the fogs at all?

Pull your bulb for your fogs, if it says 880, then that'* what you have and can run with.
The 880'* work great. I'm running the Ultra Stars and they put our great light.
I also have the Raptor HID kit sitting on my kitchen table ready for an install. Hopefully I can get to it this weekend. When you order the kit you have to select the options - one of which is the 880 bulb. Did you order correctly?
