Depending on the cams grind you may be able to use both the cam and say 1.7 ratio rockers. Your going to want to beef up the valvetrain though. Stronger springs/retainers and maybe some OR pushrods would be good while your doing the rockers. It can all add up real quick especially if your paying for labor. Like I said, hook up with ILGPC and maybe they can help you on that front. TaylorD can get you some contacts i'm sure....

Actually not a bad suggestion. However I am usually loathe to suggest N2O on poweradded vehicles due to the ease of going lean and blowing a piston. However in 97bonnevilleextreme'* NA case N20 (if properly installed and maintained) would be a cheap and effective way of gaining HP but will probably shorten the life of the engine. Maybe allmachtige can throw in here on N20...

Rogue, what about those rockers you showed me a couple days ago for 300$, that 97bonne could use? Would they help out with performance at low RPM'* or just high? And that Intense PCM you keep talking about, any predictions on the extra torque and HP it will give the car?

sellncars, lets see some pics and slips of your muscle ride. It must be something special from all this talk I hear about it. Keep it in perspective also, to get in the 10 or 9'*, you got to dump some serious money into a vehicle, then to keep it in that shape also. Most of us use our Bonne as a daily driver and want to add a good amount of HP to it. And most of us our pretty young also and at least for me, I really cant afford insurance on a true "Race car". 97bonne asked for help, not opinions or judgement. So lets try to help him.

Just messN with ya SellnCars...its all good! It can be done and you were acting like it would be a waste of time. From what I have seen on the track they can do it. It just makes me mad when people say its a waste to put money in a car...when your just tryn to have fun! I don't think nitrous would be a wise choice since I drive her allot and show her. Just not comfortable with it! NITRO....Blow.....kinda sound the same ya know! lol

See my post earlier in this thread about rockers. Gains are probably 20-25hp but with a PCM granting higher shift points the 1.9 rockers will hold the power longer in the higher rpm. instead of dropping off like with stock rockers.

And that Intense PCM you keep talking about, any predictions on the extra torque and HP it will give the car?
Depends greatly on your current mods. Think of the PCM as a limitation remover that makes the car more fun to drive. (quicker firmer shifts, higher rpms, etc...) A PCM with rockers will allow you to rev higher in gears allowing the rockers to do their job as well as provide a little more timing and add some fuel to help with lean conditions...

I agree with Rogue, rockers are going to be the best not bolt-on perfomance mod you can do. A stage 1 cam is probably around 500, and throw in how labor intensive installing it is the cost will climb quickly. But as Rogue said in another topic:

Why would you be in the same Class or Bracket if your talking about the Firebird? I'm not building a race car anyway, just wanna add jus a little more ya know? I have a 78 camaro with a 400 small block that looks kinda like your firebird but its in a hundred pieces....think I might trade it for a 68 Skylark though. I am really in to old cars too! I wanna build a show car and maybe take it on the track for fun once in a while! But the Bonneville has to stay as a driver for now so I can't go to crazy!
