what would i gain with a 160 t-stat or is it even needed? i want to put ether the 160 or the 180 in my 97 ssei but i can't figur out what one would be the best i have a few things im wanting to do to it and need some thoughts from people that know the car better than me
im looking at new :
heads and 3in down pipe with high flow cat
fwi (i think that'* what its called the intake that goes in the finder)
exhoust (spelling)
and a pcm

OK, being a SSEi you have a lot of options.
Give this a look https://www.gmforum.com/performance-brainstorming-tuning-96/what-order-should-i-mod-my-engine-278662/
Don't go with a 160, you will need to make changes to the PCM for it to work right.

for the pcm i was going to go with the one from intence set up for it ... will it give any more power or anything because the car is running cooler
i dont really want to change the pulley size just yet as im worryed about reliablity and dont feel like tearing into the car for a rocker and friends change
and i was going to go with colder plugs ... i dont know if i need to go one or two though ... im wanting to set up a good frame work so start haveing fun later
also not on the list was that shift kit some one was makeing on here i'll have to find the post again and see if they have it
as for the headers how do ya'll feel about the pacesetter 3800 , i found them on the w body store all they said is it needed a diff down pipe so i was going to go with the one from zzp with the high flow cat
and maybe the stock muffler or is it better to go with an after market one? i want the a good flow with out all the sound (g/f dosent like it and if i get it i have to lissen to her gripe all the way to canada this summer)
thanks
and sorry if it seems like im argueing with u about this (if u think that), im just woundering if im heading the right way or if im about to mess up ... i just got this car becuse my land rovers trany went out and i dont want this one to mess up ... i just read that the lower temp would make the car more reliable and have more power from it being cooler ... im new to */c cars, so im just being a little carefull ... btw Dan i think i saw ur car on cardomain and i like what u have done to it a lot. shes really nice

Intense is the best choice for the canned tune. It will up the shift points and make other changes to help the car perform better.
Dropping to a 3.6 or 3.5 pulley is more then safe.
Headers is a good choice. Pacesetters seem to be a hit or miss, some are good, but a few are poor quality.
I'm one of the guys making the shift kits, and ya, I have one made up.
The muffler wont effect performance, it'* mainly a sound thing. I like my series80

The Plog is a nice addition, however they are prone to cracking. PEMs are a cheep alternative, I have one sitting on my shelf if your interested. They help a little. You really only need to change the front. The rear manifold is far more open.

I do not have a extra down pipe, sorry. Your OK with the stock DP for a bit. Stay with the 180. The 160 can trip a SES light because it'* not heating up fast enough.
