Any manual transmissions here?
I'm thinking of eventually picking me up one of those newer 6 speeds intended for a 3900 in a G6 GT. A Getreg 5 speed from a 3.4L W-body has already been done in a Reatta, so I figure it can't be tooooooo hard.
Now, I don't know if the flywheel I'd use would be from like a RWD 3800 ('96?) or from the 3900. Hmmm...the clutch pedal, shifter, linkages, master cylinder, etc can't be too much of a hassle, though I will probably have to make my own mounts. Don't know about the CV shafts yet. But at least from my research, the 6 speed will bolt up to my LN3 just fine.
Comments?

many have been done into GP'* and other w body'*, but as far as I know, no H-body has gotten one. The G6 tranny I have heard bolts up, just would have to fab up mounts and suck. I know some have used the Flywheel from the V6 camaros and machined them, and then just an upgraded clutch from the tranny'* intended use.

IIRC no one has swapped in a G6 trans in a fireo or w-body. Brian Teel has most of the parts for a swap but hasn't done it yet..
There will be alot of fabbin involved.. mounts, linkages, etc. And since those cars are relatively new the parts will be very expensive.
I'd definitely go with the G6 trans over either of the getrags though.

Yeah. I'm thinking the G6 tranny is a little tougher cuz it'* for a 3900, and if you're doing all that work, you just have to have that extra gear. Ah...think of putting it through all those gears.Mmm...

I found this interesting, probably doesn't help at all though. I read this today:

I have the Ln3 engine mated up to an Isuzu 5spd in my fiero...(its the step below a getrag) It hasnt blown yet, and ive been doing some hard driving. To get it to mate up, I had to get a flywheel from Westcoast Fiero...$300 And then used the Fiero'* stock clutch...The thing with your LN3 on the flywheel is that it is a 6 bolt pattern instead of the usual 8. There are no stock flywheels that match this bolt pattern, and therefor you must order the custom one...and so far West coast fiero is the only on i know of. Maybe a local machine shop would fill the holes, redrill and balance the flywheel to your flexplate (becuase the engines have an imbalance) but by the time you do this, it will probably come out to the same cost. You probably would use the getrag out of something like a barreta, rather than a fiero though, beucase the shift linkage would be on the oposite side that you need. You also will need to do custom half shafts, the length of the automatics axles are much differnt than those of the manual.
As an added note...to agree with what logan read...the getrag will bolt up to any of the 3800'* Ln3 and up (i dont know about previous to the ln3) any 60 degrees (i.e. 2.8 3.1 3.4 4.3) , and the 4.9 northstar.
