I've got a 98 bonneville se, and my exhaust system needs replaced (least thats what Midas says). I was just wondering where, what, and how for good performance/looks/ and sound. I don't want to go stock replacement. Nothing on my car has been modded out of stock yet, this exhaust will be the first. what will fit my car? what are some good options? what have people done that i could do? and how much am i looking at? and where'* the best place to buy the parts/have them installed? thanks!

there is nothing pre-fabricated abvailable for the bonneville, you would have to have a set up custom made. most people here have used a camaro style muffler on their cars with good success. i recommend NOT using a flowmaster muffler, flowmasters sound really bad on 6cyl cars

Hi-flow cat, and a camaro style muffler will do you just fine. Keep the stock resonator.

do i have to order it online, or could i get it from midas or somewhere? will midas or meineke or somewhere be able to put it on for me?

they do not sound bad. i have it and so do many other members. i love mine. its loud but not overbearing. i have had many compliments.

I've got a Magnaflow on mine and it sounds great.

Check prices in your area. You'll prolly find it cheaper on-line. Check the prics at www.hottexhaust.com also,there just a little cheaper. About 5 bucks.

Magnaflows sound WAY different...they sound great IMO.

I'd get the magnaflow muffler online, because Midas quoted me something like $200 for a stock Camaro muffler, and another $100 on top of that for a Magnaflow, which was under $82 online. I kept the stock catalytic converter, resonator, and long exhaust pipe -which is stainless steel, so don't let them replace yours unless it'* really rotted, which is highly unlikely.

Midas is likely to charge you too much to do the install. If you're stuck with either Midas or Meineke, I'd go with Meineke. Better yet, find an independent exhaust specialist.

I lost a bit of low-end torque when I went to dual exhaust, but got all of it back and more by doing a ricepipe intake with a K&N filter. So think about that as your second project.

That'* some good advice. In order to **** more out, you have to feed it more with a good intake.

Your exhaust components should be 2.25" on an SE. The supercharged cars are 2.5".

You're looking for a crossflow camaro/firebird/trans am muffler. The inlet and one outlet on the driver side, and another outlet on the passenger side.
