Default make my car faster?

ok, i got a 92 SE with the n/a 3800. it has ran as good as 11.0s and as slow as 11.60s in the 1/8, with no changes to anything at all. its very inconsistent. id like to make it a lil quicker, but it has 208k on it and i dont know if it can take much more abuse. i just wanna do a few little things to wake it up. who makes a cold air kit for these cars? exhaust kits? any help would be appreciated. thanks guys!

What was you're trap speed? Do you have 2.84 gearing?

Dont' worry about ELC.

IAT is the sensor in the airbox that determines the temperature of air entering the induction system, MAF is the sensor in the throttle body that deteremines how much air is flowing THROUGH the throttle body and into the engine, and the computer takes that and adds as much fuel as necesary. You just need to worry about that sensor in the airbox, and get it in your pipe or filter somewhere.

There is not much of an aftermarket for series I'* so Simple things like the ones listed below can help you out:

-New plugs and wires and prob. O2 (as for wire don't worry about the hype of the colored ones they will not make you faster, just go with the AC Delco (lifetime) ones, and with plugs I've heard to stay away from the platinum ones, and for 02 AC Delco is the way to go -stay away from bosch-)
-Remove thermal under hood pad
-Remove under hood cowl seal
-Lower * thermostat (a 180* drilled t-stat will do wonders).
-A manual fan control switch
-Remove the MAF Screen
-A Cold Air Intake that is completely sealed from the engine bay (that is a MUST).
-IAT extension
-Thermal wrap (over many items in the engine i.e. crossover, headers, intake pipe and CAI, misc. sensors)
-Under drive water pump and alt. pulley, or even a lightweight one if you don't feel like modifying motor mounts.
-MOST of all borrow a scan tool and make sure that all your sensors are not running slow or malfunctioning.

*Most of this stuff is cheap to get or make it is just labor that you are going to have to sacrifice.
*You can search and find info for almost all these items in the search directory, all of these are bolt on items or un-bolt items. If not post and I'm sure some people will be willing to help!

what will these do for performance? just saving weight? not alot of weight there im sure. fan switch because of the drilled 180 t-stat?

Aren't there 1.7 ratio rockers for the series 1'*??
And how about the coolant fan and t-stat like mentioned and advancing the timing a few degrees? (gonna have to get a chip done and run on higher octane)
Do any of the larger supercharged series 1 throttlebodies bolt up to the L27 upper intake? Probably gonna have to either fill the tb coolant passages w/ metal epoxy or make a non-paper gasket b/c of vac/coolant leaks. also you are probably gonna have to get a mini air fuel calibrator from zzp(website down there vvvvvvv) or get some chip tuning.
Put some 97+ ignition coils onthere?
Get a ssei exhaust Downpipe back from a wrecker? Thier stainless and 2.5" instead of 2.25".(some one chime in if i'm wrong) Although i believe you don't have a resonator and might be pretty free flowing already
I'm just throwing what ever i can think of out there so if ya wanna disagree go for it.
Convert it to the 93+ style engine so you have an egr and won't have to worry about burning valves. Plus in theory, you should get better gas mileage. You'd need a bunch of stuff like a diffrent front exaust manifold, lowerintake manifold, upper intake manifold, egr valve, 93 computer, harnesses... (I actually have no idea how to make this swap it'* only a suggestion to look into)
Definatley a nice COLD intake shielded off from engine bay heat.
The electric waterpump for the series 2 engine sold at www.zzperformance.com and www.intense-racing.com has been verified to have the same sized gasket. BUT that'* it so far. clearances have not been checked.
That'* all i can think of. Hope that sparks up some discussion and helps you out.

I don't suggest removing the cowl seal. Any fumes or vapors under your hood will now be pulled right into the cabin. If you do this, do it only at the track, and only with the climate control off.
