Default AWD bonne...

Just kinda tossing this one out, probably not a bolt on though.... How about the AWD system out of an Astro or typhoon/cyclone? Or some other independent rear suspension (no solid axles). What are some AWD systems that have the engine facing east/west in the engine bay? It'd be a heck of a project.

The chassis isn't designed to take it, there'* no tunnel so it'd be hanging low, you'd have to reroute exhaust, etc. Not even talking about custom rear suspension, new driveshafts for the rear end you use, etc...

Best bet would be to scrap the system from a 6000 STE AWD car...

IIRC didn't the Azteck have an AWD version that sued the 4T65 for driving the front wheels?

Is the the AWD GP? I know there'd be issues with re-routing everything, but with the exhaust right down the middle of the car, it'd be perfect for a driveshaft.

Nope its just a Pontiac 6000.
This page has a ton of good info on the AWD STE but its a geocities so it'* only availible when ever it wants to be:
http://www.geocities.com/ste86sc3800/6000awd.html
The transmission itself is real weak but all of the other components (drive shaft, rear, etc.) were built to handle more abuse. The rear suspension was also designed to have 4 wheel steering.
www.a-body.net has a good amount of info on them.

As far as the tunnel goes.. even if it was big enough the rear of a bonnie would need some major customizing.

I always thought the trunk was too big anyways.... It'd be a fun project, but I need my car.

What kinda motor does the 6000 have?

I know the later ones had the 3.1L, multiport I think. Earlier was the 2.8L.

No. No AWD 6000 had the 2.8. They were all mated to the 3.1.
