Default LC2 to LN3

Curious. Who here knows about the Turbocharged 3.8L LC2 and how many of the LC2 parts can be bolted onto the LN3 without problem and how much power could be expected from it. If possible, what parts would need to be included in the swap and what other mods are necessary?

IIRC it sat in front of a heavy duty version of the THM200, so I know that the THM440T4 might not last forever with this setup, but hey, worth a try.

Nothing. LC3'* have different heads and such, and I believe there were slight differences between the 3.8 and the 3800 to where none of the parts would work.

Next time you start a post like this, it may help for those that don't know what that engine is to state the applications. Using a RWD turbo regal/GN motor in your car is death to your trans. Add another good chunk for a good rebuild. And how are you going to route/mount everything for a RWD in your car?

What'* your budget?

Well I didn't say the whole engine, I didn't specifically state that I was going to do this on my vehicle, this is simply a brainstorming thing for now. Sorry for being a little vague on the description, I will fix that.

What I meant was, is it possible to just custom fit the turbo instead of doing the whole shebang of heads, etc. All I want or need to know is, how much would a turbo, such as the one from the LC2 benefit the LN3? Would it be just a nice boost in power, or would it be instant trans murder even if only swapping in the turbo.

Keep this a bit hypothetical for now, Just pondering some things.

It'* been done. And no, it won't bolt up. Merlin91/97 put a Turbo on his 91. Do a search for it.

If you had an LG3 it'd be easier, But putting rare performance parts in a non-stock config should never be done. Look into doing a Xerox of Merlins' and stay away from the LC2 parts.

Not really a hot idea. If by some miracle you score a GN/TTA turbo 3.8L motor, you could sell the entire shebang to a GN or TTA owner for a profit and go buy an early SSEi. Those motors were very limited production to start with.
