Default tint removal?

The windows of my car were tinted by the previous owner, but it was a light shade, and it has been sun bleached so bad that u can only tell they were tinted by the edges when you roll down the window. I want to get 35% or something but is it possible to get the old stuff off? the tint has scrapes and burn marks in it so I cant just tint over it.

Just take a nice new and flat razorblade to it. If the razorblade is kept flat on the glass it will not scratch it. Once you get it started try and peel it off too.

Im sure you can get it removed or get it to a point that it is possible to tint over it again.

yes you can remove it. Be perpared to spend some time on this project. there are Sprays that you can get at wal mart that is made by Auxis Called Tint Off. I have never used the product but anyway............I had my back windows tinted and then took it off, and tinted all my windows at the same time. You will have to worry about all the glue that is left on the windows. once you get that off, you are good to tint again.

The tint seems to be stuck on there very well. Would it be worth it to take the windows out of the car and get them tinted then reinstalled? Also, what about the rear window? the tint appears to be peeling off in strips right along the defroster lines. you cant tell by loking at it, but you can feel that its made up of strip running exactly parallel with the defroster. Will that get destroyed if i go peeling away? Im scared that i will do permanent damage and it will end up looking like poo

when i did my tint I removed the windows from the car. It is much easire to do the tint that was and that is the was that most shops do it,

It really depends on how far down the orignal tint goes on the window. If it goes below where it is visible I would say to remove the window from the car. You cna retint at this step too.

It sounds like your back window was doen in strips, a common way to do a large back window. You can remove the tint by peeling the strips off, it will net hurt the defroster lines. DO NOT use a razon blade on the back window to remove the tint. that will scratch the deforster lines and cause them not to work
