Default Best N/A cam?

On the market right now, what'* the best cam for a 96 l36? Going to the manufacturer'* site doesn't help much, as they all claim that they're way better than everyone else'*, so I was wondering from people who have had experience with more than one brand of cam...

and what'* up with the flame wars between the companies on their websites?

anyhew, thanks!

When I bought my cam, I was under the impression that the more agressive you go (cam wise) the more you need a high stall torque converter. So, i got the GT cam b/c it seemed like the least agressive. Or I mean it seemed like it would do the least harm to my low end power.

That was my make-shift logic.

But if you have the green for a torque converter, get the most agressive cam out there.

Over on the GP forum under L36 Buick 351(i think?) tried the intense n/a stage 1 cam and the GT cam.
He dropped over a half a second switching over the the GT cam.
But i think that w/ a torque converter the intense cam is probably better.

Do a little research and find what would be your optimum intake and exhaust lift and duration, then get one custom ground. Remember to factor in a rocker ratio as well. Comp Cams custom grinds for almost the same price as one already ground.

Although the above is for V8'* I'm sure. I don't see why they cant' custom grind a cam for a pushrod V6 for equally reasonable price.

Most of the 3800 aftermarket valvetrain components are made by Comp Cams, and resold through the vendors as their products. They've already done the work for you. I'd say go for the torque converter now as well, since you're only raising your power levels from here on out.

Now the series I is a whole different story... we got nuttin'
