Flapwheels, I have found, are the best at smoothing the runners out. I've got one at near-mirror smooth already, and the port has been slightly widened. After I get the runner just the way I want it, I am going to CC it and compare it to another runner, just to see how much material has been removed. I will again CC every runner and balance to the highest number. This is important in the L27, and probably the L36 manifolds, as you don't want one cylinder outflowing any others.

Sounds like I will be picking up some flapwheels. Just how are you going to go about calculating the volume of the runners? Will you post pics and info as you go along as I am looking to do the same thing?

Seal them off and fill them with water. Let the water drain out into a calibrated beaker.
I can tell you that won't be easy to do with any accuracy. If you simply take off the roughness equally, you'll be ok.

Yes I will take pics when the camera becomes available. But don't expect this to happen over the course of a few days or nights. I only did the one runner just as a test to see how well it would take. I should be done with it in about a month, give or take.
