on your notebook make sure only the bare essential programs are running in windows (systray and explorer). This will make it alot faster. You probably wont need a virus scanner or anything like that if you arnt connected to the internet.

Great observation Shawn, so the dhp pcm may be fine but was having a hard time with the mini afc. A scan tool seems to be needed with the use of the afc in order to properley set it up? I have read somewhere that the afc 2 is more prone to fail than the afc 1.1, which is why they still sell the earlier version I guess?
I'm going to reinstall the AFC 1.1 tomorrow and see if the little internal lights are still functioning. The instructions say that if the lights work then the AFC is OK.

I guess it will just run lean until it blows up, no big deal.

The AFC worked fine today.....at least the car ran fine, idled great and didn't throw any codes.
I removed it again anyhow. No more blind trials for now and I don't think I really require it with the fuel pressure increased a few psi.
The loss of power after I removed the DHP module and replaced it with my original PCM was too much to bear :( ............so I re-installed it again.
I'm not going to redline it or drive it too hard until the replacement arrives .....ya right and I can live with the SES being lit. Its benefits still outweigh the few problems it presents.
If it takes another month for the replacement to arrive, I just may have a case learn done on this one to clear the light and get my security system working in the interim.
