I am looking on putting a turbo system on from STS. It is a universal kit and was wondering if anybody here has tried turbos. also is the front ends the same as a grand prix? (Looking at a front body kit)

First thing we need is your year and trim level of your car.

Also, you won't find a body kit of any kind for our cars unless it is completly custom

Its a 2000 Bonneville SE with MSD, K&N high flow intake, custom exhaust, and NX 130 hp boost. Already rebuilt the trans with high performance parts. I sell kits from extreme dimensions and I ran accross the ones for the grand prix and the front ends look the same.

The turbo would realy wake up your car.

Yeah, I can buy STS turbo set up for pretty cheap seeings how I sell for them. I get them for 40% off Jobber. They say it will give me a boost around 10-12 lbs. The turbo mounts in the rear where the muffler used to be and then uses the distance to cool down the charge instead of using an intercooler. It looses about 1 lb of boost but it is a fare trade off. It uses wategates to keep the turbos spooled up so there is no turbo lag. I was just curious because we've never tried one of these kits. I was curious if anyone else has done a similar set up and if so how it turned out. Also I was worried about the intake, don't know if the upper can take that kind of pressure. They are so prone to warpage and leaking. I havent been able to find a suitable performance replacement

Well, the former President of GOClubGP had that setup on his GP GT, and with an otherwise stock motor, managed a mid-13. You might want to get rid of your resonator in favor of a straight pipe.

There'* a lot of info there. As far as being able to handle boost, I believe they have stood up to 13psi before. Make sure to get yourself some aluminum LIM gaskets, though.
Also, did your trans upgrade include all the different parts from the HD trans? If not, then it won't live long under boost.

Finally, no body kits for the GP will work on the Bonnie. Completely different car, totally different platform. It'* sister car is the LeSabre, and it'* closely related to the Park Avenue, Riviera, and Aurora.
Basically it'* as closely related to the Grand Prix as the Crown Vic is to the Mustang. Same motor, different car.


EDIT: If you have seirous concerns about the upper intake, You could replace the whole thing with a UIM/LIM from an F-body. I know it'* been done on GPs, not sure if it will fit under the hood of the Bonnie. Of course, it would involve a lot of work, as it puts the TB on the passenger side of the motor.

EDIT MORE: You might be able to get the body cladding from a GXP, which is a lot smoother, and more flowing. The tails also got rid of the black grid and the indents in the signals.

All of the parts used for the rebuild were for HD and Racing application from Transtar. I really don't trust these ABS upper intakes. The one an my 99 Suburban Blew out under 10 PSI. Maybe it was just a weak point. I ordered the turbo set up tonight and I should get it some time this coming week. I'll post picks of how it goes. If the intake can't take it I'll just have to adjust the boost with the waste gates. Just from the pics the 2000 grand prix and the 2000 bonny looked the same so I was just curious. If anyone is interested in a kit I could call ED and see what they say about popping out a few prototypes. They are always looking for new vehicles to try. They just need to know people are looking to do this with these cars.

Dude, if you can get kits made, I pretty much guarantee someone here will buy them. Just make sure they're not too gaudy, we're a pretty subtle bunch when it comes to body mods.

BTW, How much does it usually cost to have front lower-bumper cladding prototyped?

Not really sure, most of their kits run around $1000 or more but they are not just bolt on kits either. They require some mods and sometimes filler and always paint. I believe they suck up the cost as long as there is need out there for it. I will call them on Monday and see what they say. Ray, the uy I deal with there, is usually pretty cool about these things, he looked into it for a friend of mine for his Buick last year and he got one in about 6 months.

You can get a Aluminum intake manifold for a Series III Grand Prix for like $140 from www.gmpartsdirect.com, but order it about 1 month ahead of the planned installation date so it arrives on that day, or maybe a couple days later -they tend to charge YOU $1 extra for every day they wait to ship, which is typically 2-3 weeks. Worst shipping/customer service ever, but the initial price of the parts is cheap, but shipping is absurdly expensive (expect $60 shipping charges on the intake manifold).
Then you need a TB adapter plate as the Series III is a Drive-By-Wire where the Series II is cable driven.
