Several mechanics have told me PVC is just as good as metal. Just doesnt look as good or shiney. Dont worry about it melting or putting out harmful fumes or something, i dunno :? But just make sure its long enough, that was the main problem with mine. 20$ for PVC seems a tad pricey, if you can, get a pic of previous items he has done.

Cheap ebay intakes really blow! I bought last year when I first got my car, the rubber clamp to fit over the TB didnt even fit correctly. Plus the metal pipe is to short. Many members have bought ricers intakes from auto zone and rigged them up to fit. They seem to do the trick!

So on top of paying him 20$, you still need to buy him the parts which will be another 10$ at least, and that is NOT including the filter. WIll he tell you what parts to buy or something? Really all you need is a 60* bend in the PVC pipe, and just make sure its long enough. If you got a plumbing store around your neck of the woods then you can find something there. Yes you can make it cold air, but it needs a heat shield around it, like how Willwren has his setup in his Sig pic. I would say the only problem with PVC is finding the right length. As far as the rubber couplers to get, make sure you get one that is flexible. I think they are called "tubing to faucet" or some off the wall name like that.

Check this thread out. The black PVC intake is what I have on there now. Oddly enought I thought that was ok, but Will told me it could actually hurt the engine, so I will be switching to that metal pipe I bought at autozone. It is longer and is away from the main engine heat of the car.

Hey! I have a PVC Intake, And although I was all behind the idea at the beginning, I wouldn't recommend it to you. Heatsoak is extreme in the PVC, As I was told before but didn't listen... Try BonneMeMN'* Rice Pipe Intake, It is a much more solid and proven. Just Search for "Rice Pipe" on the forums.

EDIT: The correct intake angle for the L27 is 47 degrees.

I would try PVC first. Take care of it, sand it down and put some heat resistant spray crap on it. You can get liquid that goes inside of pipes and hardens to the side and makes them more heat resistant. A lot of motorcycle shops use that product for their pipes on their bikes.

Yea, the angle is 47*, but where you going to find a PVC pipe that is built specifically at that angle. I geuss he could always special order it...?

Putting anything inside the pipe that may not stick is a very bad idea.

47 degrees is simply the exact angle, 45 will work.

I consider the money I spent to make my PVC intake a waste. I seriously recommend you don't SSEi_MN.

I took a 3" 45*, cut off both hubs, and dowelled it to an 18" peice of straight foam core PVC. That is the best you can get with PVC, and it isn't good enough.

No, it will stick. Bikes use it on the exhaust pipes. My boss has a Harley Fat Boy, and did it to his, worked really well. Just have to give them a few hours to dry then you can step on it.

Dame, what are you using now on your car?
