Default My Flowmaster 80series...

ok..i'm a tad confused, and i'm not sure if this muffler is installed properly or whatever. At start up it sounds great..but like EXTREMELY loud..diesel truck-ish..but low and beastly..the volume is just incredible though. Then, anywhere from 1-1.5rmps it sounds pretty rumbly ..but if i stay at a steady 2rpms going down the road it sounds like butt..there'* no baffle to it.. it'* just like flat noise coming outta the exhaust..y a know? Regaurdless, it'* ALOT louder than i expected..and sometimes if i've got a girl in the car or somethin and were tryin to talk , the exhaust almost gets too overwhelming and it gets annoying. At lower rpms it'* desently loud inside the car and you can ALMOST feel a little vibration through the seats. ..and if i rev it HARD there'* major backfire..whereas in those other clips with flowmasters there was hardly any backfire. regaurdless..it sounds good if the rpms are right..or if it'* pegged..but i think it should be better then that..ya know? The muffler i believe is 2.5" inlet (stock piping) ..and dual 3" outlets for my hedman tips which are 3" on pfyc.com I know it should be a little louder than andy'* (bonniepimpin) due to his series 1 piping being only 2.25" ..is this exhaust right? ..help
here'* some pics of the installation..

..all the products i used

..all stock..

..placement of 80series..

all welded on..

id appreciate some feedback..thanks guys.

Flowmasters were really engineered for sound. But so much of that depends on what else your exhaust has. You may need to add a cherry bomb to get the sound you want.

Do you have the stock resonator? What cat are you running?

Anything you 'ADD' to an exhaust will quiet it somewhat, except for the 'addition' of a straight pipe in exhange for some other component. A cherry bomb can act as a resonator to keep down the 'drone' or 'backfire' sound.

Ryan, take some audio clips if you can. Its really hard to compare what your sound is like against other exhaust set ups.

For example on my car, you can feel the vibration (the dual Magnaflows are welded to the car) at 1000-3000 RPM you can hear it nicely....little bit of a grumble, Peter and Hailey can confirm that. However at 4000+, all you hear is the NorthStar....

But I digress, lets hear yours, may be easier to help you out a bit

Welded to the car? Or hangers are jim?

I was conversing with ryan over Aim last night, he'* still got a stock Cat, and resonator....

I guess he could ad a cherry bomb, but that would need a lot of room after the res, which i'm not sure he'* got...

The stainless steel hangers are welded from the pipe to the frame of the car, I can FEEL the vibration of the dualies...

Maybe time to upgrade the resonator
