98 se V8 swap

98 se V8 swap
im in planning with this, im driving a near-stock 98 se bonne right now,
i wanna swap to an LS instead of the L67 conversion or buying an ssei,
and i plan on keeping the car NA (for now).
i need help, im not sure which trannys to consider (automatics) to be competitive on track but practical. i know the torque cant break the 4t65e/HDs pretty quick.
and the motors more than likely gonna be built from a grandprixs LS4 bc of the engine being designed to work transmount. but the grand prixs also a four speed automatic and the gearings pretty tall.
a five speed manuals not out of consideration either, but i dont know what to use to be able to handle the power without excessive work to bolt it up.
also, ideas on wheel offsets to keep the torque steer and understeering as minmal as possible.
im aiming for the car to be high 300 to low 400 horses with comprable torque and have some breathing room on money to pay for all this.
thanks guys

Sounds like you have a heck of a build, look forward to seeing the finished product. Most people here stick the the 3800, but a few have done some interesting builds. I'm sure we can get you the info you need.
