Default Exhaust question

Hey guys I am wanting to know what would be better for my 1999 SSEi.

I am looking at putting a y-pipe before the rear suspension and then taking 2 Borla Turbo mufflers and making it look like it is dual exhaust. Now could there be a problem with that set up because of the flow of the exhaust or would that be better than stock.

Or should I buy a single inlet dual outlet exhaust like what'* on it now.

Another thing are Borla'* as loud as a Flowmaster? I am curious because my parents say my 92 is way too loud.

Thanks,

A.J.

I beleave if you do the "Y" method, you will lose a little bit of ground clearance

I am not really a mechanic, but I don't think there would be a problem with it.
But if you are looking for a more mellow sound, not so loud, I would recommend Dynomax Super Turbo Mufflers, p/n: 17731. They increased my HP approximately 6 to 10, for the pair. I just had a 3" Downpipe and High-Flow Cat Assembly installed last Friday. It increased my HP another 11 HP. It sounds mellow, not raspy sounding.

Make sure the "Y" is level with the rest of the pipe, before and after it. If you can't have the entire pipe level then I wouldn't do it. I am just a technical systems support person, a former CTM in the Navy. Any mechanics have any suggestions.

One more thought.
If the entire pipe isn't level, before and after the "Y", and if the "Y" is not in the center between the two pipes that split off, I don't think I would do it.
It has to be level to have the exhaust flow good.
I would also think that the "Y" would have to be somewhat centered between the two pipes that split off to the mufflers. This is not speaking as a mechanic, but as a technical thinker. I know some of you other guys should have some thoughts.
